Thumbs up SUbaru of Plano, TX (SoP)

Brand new Dealership.

It's kind of hard to describe the dealership's lay out. It's advertised as being a combination of a dealership and a Starbucks and it really kind of looks like just that on the inside.

The Service Dept rocks. The techs are all competent and professional. The service bays are clean and fully visible from the waiting area/ coffee (starbucks ?) area. I see heavily moded cars in there on the lifts from time to time. They are tuner friendly, or at least as friendly as a dealership could be I guess. I had my performance allighnment done there and when I bought my APv2 they installed the maps for me and gave me a class on the device.

The parts Dept is also Hotsubarus.com. Chris is the parts manager and he also drives/owns the Cobb-Hotsubarus SM Prosolo car. They carry all the Cobb stuff as well as SPT/STi parts. Very good customer servise and very aproachable both in the store and while at Auto-Xs.

They give me (and I'm assuming everyone ells) free car washes anytime. I just drive in and throw them the keys while I kick back and drink some coffee. While not detailed, they do a great job for free. I try and tip the guy well.

The waiting area has free coffee, pretty good coffee for a dealership... I think it's catered, as well as wireless internet and some desks you can use if you need to do some work while getting an oil change or some other service. They also have free bottles of water and fresh fruit. The couches are comfy and I hear that they are trying to start to play WRC videos on the flat screen they have. To tell the truth, as there are at least three closer Subaru dealerships to me, I go well out of my way to go there. It kind of has a almost "club house" feel to it for TXIC members as I have heard many other TXIC memebers speak of going there to get a small part and just hanging out for much more time than is really nessisary. You just feel welcome I guess.

Over all I give them a 4/4 stars.

Thumbs up

I just had my car serviced at Subaru of Plano and had a great experience.

The A/C in my 05 WRX was cycling on-and-off and locking-up the belt. It was chirping, screeching, and annoying. I checked the R134 level a few months back and it read high, which I was confused by, but I thought it was my cheap gauge. I also thought that the source of the problem was the clutch on the AC compressor being worn out. Subaru changed the compressor design in 2004 and the clutch is not available as a replacement part, you've got to swap out the complete compressor. AC repair is one of the things I won't do myself and I was waiting for the season to warm up before I had it fixed.

So this morning I finally took in the car and explained my diagnosis to them. I expected to pay between $700 and $1000 for the repair.

About lunch time I called the service manager, Betty Greenfield, to follow-up and get a damage report. She surprised me by saying that the problem was not the clutch, but the excess coolant in the system and a loose belt. The technician had gone to the trouble to find the real problem and saved me a ton of $. The repair was $148 out the door and the A/C runs very quietly.

Also, when their driver was running late in the morning they gave me a loaner Forester, making everything much more convenient.

I can't remember the last time the service department of a car dealership saved me money, I'm sure I'll be back.

Default Try Randy Adams in New Braunfels

I've never had my car serviced at the Subaru dealership in Plano, but I recently purchased a used Subaru at the Randy Adams dealership in New Braunfels, Texas. My experience at Randy Adams was such a treat. Not only was the salesman knowledgable and incredibly easy to work with, but they made it easy for me to finance considering my current difficult credit situation.

I will return to Randy Adams again and again, and I highly recommend that you buy your next used vehicle there!

Holy batman, long time dead thread revival, yeah whatever.

Subaru of plano might be good in 08 but in 2011 and 2012, they suck vagina juice. I can say vagina because it is a scientific name. they Suck penis bollocks, because they see you as a money, not a person. they dont listen to you, manager dont give an ass ass.

They are bad over all. from byran, to Darren, apparently he is the manager, lol, then there is johnny, now he is a good guy. i would suggest you talk to him and no one else. If he cant make a deal, walk out. thats all i have to say about this dealership.

oh order my 2012 subaru wrx wagon from sewell subaru in dallas. Got it at dealer invoice price w/ ttl. 20% off on all accessories and car parts. free car wash for as long as i own the car!!!! subaru of plano told me, you get 2 years !!!! of free car wash and we can start at MSRP price. ahahahahahhaha. NO!!!!! walked out and got a better deal.

I generally don't like to stir up @&#$ but... for this occasion I have to say something. SoP has been doing standard maintenance for me over the past year or so... things have generally gone smooth (though i've had them put the car back up on the lift after filling it with the wrong oil more then once).

Unfortunately my last trip there really soured me... Went in for standard fluid/filter change/etc.... also requested a e-brake adjustment, since it was extremely loose.

After service was complete, drove out, merged onto the turnpike... all was well until about 65-70mph, when suddenly the rear of the car started violently vibrating (I thought all hell had broke lose). It was obviously bad enough to be visible to the guy behind me as well, because he started honking.

Turned on Hazards... Immediately pulled over, checked over everything (felt like one of the wheels was about to come off ) Found nothing... had suspicions at this point that e-brake might be dragging, so fiddled with it for a little bit, then turned around and limped back to the dealership.

Now... this is where things get ugly. If a customer comes back and polietly (for the most part) asks to have the car re-checked because something quite unpleasant occured... the expected response is "okay sir, lets put it back up and take a look"... or at least "what was the situation when this started to occur"... What I actually got back was the service manager accusing me of trying to do e-brake slides....

What?! Really? Certainly that is the first thing I do when I merge onto the turnpike... engage the e-brake (in a AWD car), and try to slide around in 70-80mph traffic (for those without sarcasm detector, this is sarcasm).

They took the car back in (for a supposed test drive.. don't get me started on the comments they made there), and I sat waiting... then after 10-15 minutes it came back out, and they claimed without a doubt there was no issue.

Strangely enough... e-brake was not as tight when it came back out.

Time to find a new dealership for my warranty/maintenance work.

While I can't speak for the service department, I can say that the sales department is top notch at Subaru of Plano. Back in April I went there and put down a deposit for an Impreza Sport. The car was actually supposed to be delivered to Brandon Tomes Subaru in McKinney on April 13th. Well the car did get delivered on that exact date, but those jerkoffs at Brandon Tomes sold it right out from under me even after I had put money down to reserve it. At that point Subaru of Plano bent over backwards to find another Silver Impreza Sport and found one coming to Bob Moore Subaru in Hurst. The two dealerships agreed to do a dealer swap and get me my car. One thing led to another and Bob Moore Subaru refused to do the dealer swap. Luckily by that point Subaru of Plano had my exact car coming to their dealership, however it wasn't scheduled to be delivered until May 7th. Having felt bad about that Subaru of Plano gave a brand new Legacy as a loaner car to drive until mine came in. My car actually came in a week early and I picked it up yesterday. All the people I dealt with were super nice.

I would definately recommend Subaru of Plano's sales department. Specifically Abran Alvarado, Kevin Klein, Isaiah and Darren the sales manager.

Joke
I love customers like you.
Did you ever think that maybe just maybe another buyer who was willing to pay more then you actually got your original deal?
I bet they sold your car right under your nose.
Lets face it 50% or more of all the car dealers in North America are crooks.
