Default Ej22 engine rebuild

I'm really contemplating doing the headgaskets and the timing belt.
Think I should pull the whole engine out and do a complete overhaul? The engine is in great running condition, with 203k miles on it, so should I just wait for it to crap out or do it before something bad goes wrong?

Pull the engine, and while it is out and once you have the heads off take a look at the condition of the cylinder walls. That should give you an idea of bearing condition. If the bearings are getting tired, it will be starting to groove the walls.

Also, a leakdown and compression test is always a good indicator before you do anything. If it appears to be in good nick and presents good numbers, just do the head gaskets, oil pump, water pump, rear main seal, cam seals, valve cover seals and timing belt and drive it for another 100k mi...

man, you got a 2.2 those things will go forever, dont tear down a good motor.
wait till somethign goes wrong, if you're worried then change the timing belt, but leave the motor as is.. after 200k its all broken in. and to be honest you can pick up lower milage 2.2's for like nothing around here.. way cheaper than a rebuild.
