Default Looking to buy in FLORIDA

I'm searching for a good dealership here in Florida.

Just wondering if anyone had any experiences in this area.

I've heard all the ones in orlando are not worth even going to, they wont deal at all and the service dept sucks. Nobody will let them touch thier cars. Orlando is the closest place for me, but I test drove one in Jacksonville at Subaru Of Jacksonville(www.sojax.com), and i dont mind driving, if it means a good deal.

anyway, I've also heard there is a good dealer over in tampa, and supports aftermarket stuff rather well.

any ideas on where i can go to get the best deal and service?

thanks

Talking

No question, the best dealer in Florida is Mastro Subaru in Tampa (813) 884-7513, talk to Shawn or Steve in sales, or talk directly to Pete Mastro. Make sure you tell them that Opie sent ya!
Check out their inventory at http://www.mastrosubaru.com and check out their aftermarket shop at http://www.mastrowrx.com

i had nothing but bad luck in florida when i was out visiting the folks. delray subaru couldn't be bothered to talk to me, and eddie acardi wanted to rob me. i ended up going back to california for my wrx.
that said, mastro sounds pretty cool. 'conduit' might have some advice for you, too. he seems like he knows what's up.

MASTRO SUBARU IN TAMPA! NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! I dealt with Sean and he was a pleasure to do business with. Mastro also seem to clearly be very mod friendly as long as you don't get unreasonable or stupid. My short experience with the service department has also been favorable.

good luck!

Glad to see this forum's here. I live pretty far south in Miami, and my nearest dealer (William Lehman Subaru)is 21 miles from my house. How good or bad are they? I loved the WRX when I drove it, but this area is really lacking in dealers. The salesman I drove with even said it was OK to do the oil changes at,say, Jiffy Lube & save the receipts & it wouldn't void the warranty. True, or BS from a salesman desperate for a sale?

You don't even need to save the receipts, they can't void your warrenty for that. I'm not saying you should not change your oil, but you don't have to prove anything. The only person that has to prove anything to void your warrenty or part of your warrenty is the dealer.

Lightbulb William Lehman in north Miami

Hey folks, new '02 WRX wagon (Alpine White, 5sp. of course) owner here...

Just picked up the little a$%-hauler Sat., had an Ok experience at Lehman. No dealing on the sticker, but I held out for higher $$$ on my trade ('00 Nissan Frontier Desert Runner sev6) and did alright, plus I secured a better financing deal than the 6.9% Nissan gave me in July of '00. I'll probably use them for service unless they blow it once. I always give dealer service dept's the benefit of the doubt, unless I hear from a reputable source NOT to use someone for some specific reason. I would recommend Lehman, though only from a sales perspective as I have no experience w/service. Low key folks all-around, generally good attitudes, but of course, fairly high-pressure.

l8r,

Steve

Question Delway

I actually had a very good experience with Delray Subaru. Talked with peter over the phone and arranged everything. Got my WRX for 800 over invoice. Didnt have any problems with them. Guess these stories can go both ways.

Unhappy

For the love of all things good and wholesome, stay clear of Delray Subaru.

They are not very trustworthy or knowledgable there...nor do they have sufficient facilities to constitute a real service to their customers. Their service center and body shop consist of a dual car garage!

Lehman Subaru= bad sales department, pretty good service department. Orlando in service is cool.

Eddie Accardi = sales teh suck. Service, the suck again. Called SOA three times to complain. It was that bad.

Delray= ok sales, never dealt with service but i've heard they're ok.

Classic = ok sales, never dealt with service.

Bill Bryan Winterpark = good sales and service.

Mastro = good sales, ok service as long as you don't talk with Gene.

Ft. Myers O'brien Subaru = markups on new cars, but great service. First time I've ever had a service advisor call me to say my car was done. 30k service cost $320 + tax. Great job and very friendly.

Jacksonville = friendly sales, good service.

Hope this helps Florida people.

Sorry Pete.

Didn't mean anything to sound desparaging. Becky and Will just say I have a hang up about Gene.

We'll be up soon so I'll let you know when.

Take care,

Your being sarcastic right? Their service department is absolutely horrid. Sales staff seems nice enough, lucky if they have 10 Subaru's in stock.

This is an old topic, but just in case anyone does a search and pulls this up. Lehman sales suck, and I mean in my opinion they really reek. Even if you have something in writing and a cashed check re-print for a service they were supposed to provide (DID NOT!), they may make ridiculous arguments. One such argument was "well, we don't know if we did it or not, we don't have any records about it, that signed parts list you have and that check we cashed don't mean anything". I don't know if they are any different now, but beware, I had to deal with the owner to get things done.

I never even noticed this forum before so i posted a new thread in South East Region pretty much on the same topic. But, stay away from Delray! I bought 2 cars from them, my family is about to buy 2 more, I went to service for a window problem and i've never had ruder people help me. So i left, and they just lost a sale of 2 cars.

Subaru of Jacksonville (SOJ) sucks too. Dont even waste your time buying from them because they will not cover anything under warranty if you have mods that dont even have anything to do with what went wrong. Get this they encourage you to buy mods and modify your WRX but yet when it comes down to it , it is just a way for them to screw you out of your warranty. Thanks to these jerks I will NEVER own another Subaru for the rest of my life and I will never suggest a Subaru to any of my customers either. If you want to know the whole story go to the Warranty and Denial forum and look for the "Subaru Did me Wrong" thread.

F' you SOJ and SOA!!!!

Default Dealer in South FL

This is an old topic, but for those of you who are still looking to buy in Florida: I bought a 2003 wrx this weekend 5/10/03 at Eddie Accardi in Pompano Beach and they were Awesome! Particularly "Ito" our sales guy and the Finance guy "Aaron" was also great. They were pleasant and NOT pushy. They gave us a good deal and took care of us from the time we walked in, to the time we drove off with our new Suby!!!

Highly recomend talking to "Ito"!!!

I just purchased a 2003 WRX this weekend at Mastro. I'm from Michigan, so I had to fly down and pick it up. They were great. The best dealership I've dealt with, and they were really accomodating to my travel needs as well. I just wish they were located closer to me.

So I would highly recommend them. I worked with Sean and Pete, and they were great.

All reasonable Florida Dealers....Please Read This Post! Looking to Purchase a 2004 WRX through the Subaru VIP program!

First, hi everyone!

I'm new to NASIOC....always gone to I-Club before, but plan to make "stops" at both going forward.

I am convinced that South Florida would have MANY more Subarus on the road if they just had better dealers.

Having originally been in the market for an STi and as of just recently a WRX instead, I have physically and via e-mail communicated with William Lehman, Eddie Accardi, and Potamkin, and have talked to Delray on the phone. In order to remain civil, all I will say is that, as far as sales go, I have not been impressed with any of them, with some being worse than others.

My most recent encounter was this past Monday with William Lehman where I dealt directly with Larry Shane the sales manager using my Subaru VIP authorization letter to try and purchase a 2004 WRX (for invoice because of my long affiliation with IMBA - International Mountain Bike Association through Subaru VIP Program)

I introduced myself, showed him my letter, and asked for a test drive to which I had already picked out a stock number for them. Took the test drive with a sales person and came back to discuss the only variable in the deal because of my VIP status, my trade. I couldn't have made it any easier for them.

Here's where it get's disturbing. He comes out with the traditional line of "Well what do you want for your trade to get you into the WRX today" to which I tell him I'm willing to be reasonable to make the deal go smoothly and would accept "Average" (even HE agreed my car was in "Clean" condition) Black Book value while also taking into consideration the optional equipment on the car and my low mileage.

So he looks at his Black Book, sees the value, and then first starts by pointing at a lower trim model of my car and says here's black book value on your car so I can only give you this much. (about $2000 below average for my car and trim level). After I correct him and point to my actual model (and an amount that I've already been offered by a Mazda dealer for my car) he then says "oh....well I can't give you that much because I can buy it at auction cheaper than that". "I don't know why the Mazda dealer is giving you that much."

So I say "You are telling me that you can buy my car for $2000 less than YOUR OWN admitted WHOLESALE black book value in the condition my car is in?" And he says "We need to make money on this deal and you are already getting your car for invoice, and I can't give you more on your trade". Of course I told him that was unreasonable and unacceptable and I left.

My point is this. Subaru Corporate reimburses the dealer for selling me the car at invoice (which he said is only $300-400???), they admit the car has been on the lot for a very short period of time (can you say full dealer holdback?), and especially taking part in the Subaru VIP program shouldn't mean that they have to try and make more than a reasonable profit on my trade. I suspect that this is exactly why on the VIP form it states that the dealer has to list the trade-in value seperately from the VIP discount pricing so that they can see how the customer was treated on their trade. They just wanted to greedily lowball my trade because of the fact that they had no where to go on their car.

Since Subaru VIP dealer participation is supposedly voluntary, I would expect a dealer that takes part to deal reasonably and in good faith on a trade and the experience as a whole, since that is the impression I got from Subaru corporate about what the VIP program is all about.

Sorry for the long post, but it's really discouraging and driving me to possibly follow through with a purchase of a Mazda vehicle when the Suabru VIP program seemed to be designed to do the exact opposite, and promote the Subaru brand and a "VIP" experience for affiliate members.

Before I follow through with my alternate purchase, any dealers out there in Florida willing to offer to treat me fairly on my trade in exchange for a guaranteed, no hassle VIP sale on a WRX????

Dtech

EDIT: I did not visit/communicate with all of the South Florida dealers I mentioned about the VIP program...just past or recent experiences with finding out about the STi and initial release of the WRX, so YMMV.

Dude, i would definetly save the reciepts. If jiffy lube leaves your drain plug loose, or puts trans fluid in your diff( Sounds weird but have seen it happen, stranger jiffy lube had to pay for the new trans) they can be held liable. Trust me, you don't want to pay to have a new trans put in your car. Also, if they try to tell you your car is not running right because of lack of maintenance, you have the reciepts, which are dated with mileage. It is for your protection, and it will save your a## in the long run.

I'm glad I found this post. I'm looking to buy a 2004 WRX Wagon. I live in Ft. Lauderdale (by the Sawgrass Mall). I've been to Delray Subaru and the sales guy said they have a policy not allowing test drives, they don't want kids abusing the vehicles. I talked to the guy awhile and he said that he'd have to speak to the manager to see if it would be ok.

I looked at him and said, buddy, I'm hardly a kid and the next time I stop by and I actually have time to take it for a test drive, I expect no statements about your policy because there are 3 other dealers that would like my business.

I'm not actually buying the vehicle until September...so that's why I really didn't let him have it.

Hey MystiqueSVT, I am the Internet Sales Manager at Mastro Subaru and you can come by and test drive our cars anytime you want. We do have restrictions on the STi demo rides for obvious reasons but anything else is cool. Just give me a call. I was working with Tourette69 but he came in on my day off. Sean McCarthy is a great salesman so you are in good hands with whoever you pick.
