So the Mishimoto is good? There is no info on the radiator that was in the pic that Import Image was using. So we don't know what not to buy. My radiator cracked this weekend at VIR and I need something now and can't afford the Koyo. I haven't looked at the Haste but I will shortly. The Mishimoto does use the stock fans correct?

yeah i finally got it all under control, whenever business slows down ill have to dig through my parts and take a pic so you can see what NOT to buy...my PWR radiator now even with the ac on with my gms thermostat and upgraded hoses (stock fans) stays at about 1 quarter even with the ac on around 85 degrees...
during the heat of the day it still doesnt even come close to the middle. of the coolant temp gauge.

I'm thinking the radiator not cooling like it should and then eventually failing is why I've been having some performance issues. The PWR is kind of expensive to isn't it?

Bump, anyone have the generic Ebay aluminum ones? Not the Haste or Mishimoto?

I thought I'd post some feedback regarding a cheap radiator I purchased for my bugeye.

I got a JustJap "cooling pro" alloy radiator a few months back after my oem one cracked and have not had an problem with it apart from needing to replace the cheap radiator cap with one that works.

It fit into place without any problems using the factory top brackets and the slots at the bottom and included all mounting holes required to mount the oem fans and hosing brackets.

As I mentioned at the begining, it came with a cheap radiator cap which I needed to replace - once replaced with a new cap (I got a Buddy Club cap) all was good.

During logging tests, the Justjap "cooling pro" radiator is more efficient at cooling, running up to 20 deg C cooler then oem.

I have plotted the stats from the log into a graph (below) for visual comparison. You can see water temps from both radiators start at around 92 Deg C, but the oem water temps continue to increase until it plateaus at around 97 Deg C, while the Just Jap "Cooling Pro" water temps continue to drop until it plateaus at around 79 Deg C, highlighting its better cooling efficiency.

Some pics (sorry about photo quality) - radiator

A close-up showing one of the fan mounting points and welds:

Edit: A link to the JustJap "Cooling Pro" alloy radiator page is HERE. Also of importance, if you do buy one, ensure you order the correct one as there are a few different types for the WRX

No fans included - but it has all the mounting points for the standard fans - they bolt straight up

anybody try the CXRacing radiator on eBay?
their intercoolers are known for being nice, just wondered if their radiators would be the same.
the pics on their ebay posting show it installed, all nice and purdy.

I also have a cx racing radiator. Fit it great and definetly quite a big thicker than the factory radiator. Fans fit in perfectly. As of about two months no problems, and not forseeing any.

I installed a CXRacing radiator last month after my stocker exploded. 100% perfect fitment minus trimming the rad hoses. Amazing price too.

Thumbs up Mishimoto

I've had a Mishimoto rad on my track car (240sx) for over a year with no problems so far. The temps have been a constant 180F in just about ant weather even on the track. Had no problems with fitment either.

question about this CXRacing Radiator VS. this CXRacing Radiator

I have an '03 WRX, the first one says it's specific to 2002, but the one that says it's for 2002-2007 has the extra radiator cap on top. My stock one doesn't, so I want to replace it with this one that doesn't, right?

All the other measurements are the same on both

I'm looking for a new radiator for my 02 also, and even though the 02's don't have the filler neck you should get one that does. It's a better design and makes filling the radiator much easier b/c you can see when the level drops when burping and can add accordingly.

Unhappy

I guess its really hit or miss with these cheapy (ebay and mishimoto) radiators. I'm on my second CXR (and crossing my fingers) hopefuly it won't leak at the seam AGAIN. My cousin is on his THIRD mishiNONO. Yes these cheapies do offer their limited warranties, but after all this trouble and how much I value my time (removing, reinstalling, and bleeding these darn things); I've figured out that only thing these companies can stand behind is their limited warranties, NOT their quality. Sure, if it leaks or you receive a warped radiator they will replace it, but then you are down on shipping costs, and not to mention the time to put them back in. Then after all that, I continue to worry if it will hold up! All the extra time and money could have gone toward a reputable brand in the first place. That is actually next on my wish list.

So I've finally have a pissing stock radiator I want to get rid off. So called around locally for some replacement Rads. All I found out was plastic rads including Genuine factory Subaru Rads are all over priced.
They were priced from $300-600 only plastic ones.
So Went to Ebay checked this out and found an All aluminum RAd for $180 shipped. So I went for it and within 5 days I received it.
Below are what I've done:

Open box time.

Replacing the Thermostat was a may as well thing. Trust me it's worth doing it at this time a lot more access.

you need to trim the ends approx 1/4" each end as this rad is 1/2" thicker than stock.
