Default modifying cluster ok for a lease car?

well i really wanna change the color of the gauges in my car..
my only concern is...the dealer will know i've taking the cluster
out ..and they might think i try to roll back the mileage or something
and get me into a deep trouble when i return the lease car to them

any input guys???

p.s. dont tell me dont mod a lease car...its already too late..haha
almost everything on my car is not stock...but i can go back to stock
only concern is the cluster color change mod..

thx in advance

Definitely do not change the cluster - I can only imagine, much like your warranty, doing so would screw you pretty bad.

are you planning on buying it when the lease ends? if not, you will be screwed every which way possible. Also, what exactly is "everything" that's not stock on your car?

even if you do plan on buying it, the dealer has a legal right to stick you with a very, very high per mile fee if you modify the cluster and they find out. any mods could be considered tampering, which would put the mileage in question. (check your lease once, there is CERTAINLY a provision for the dealer being unable to read the mileage and what they then assume the mileage is (and associate charge)

anyway, modding ANYTHING on a leased car could end up costing you alot. keep in mind it isn't your car, it is a long term rental car.

well i believe most of the mods if done properly and remember to keep all the stock parts ...its not that bad of an idea to mod the car...

i've done suspension, intake, exhaust, wheels, HID, trunk swap with wrx spoiler,
painted sideskirts, STI fog covers with front spiltters, V-limited lip, sound system,etc...these can be easily turn back to stock..

but i guess i will leave the cluster alone...haha thx guys

the front splitters require holes in the bumper to be installed correctly. i hope you didn't put holes in the bumper

take your HID out before the ballasts fry the wiring. even if they're relayed, you should still take them out.

It's a federal offense to modfiy your gauge cluster.

I think I traded-in my last WRX with some 30k miles less then what it should have had.

My current car is the same as well.

I think that you will be fine doing it as long as you give it back to them during the day so that they can't what color the cluster lights up. But just don't do it. It would be a bad idea.

^^^ my original plan is that...i will remove the green gel coat
then use red bulbs for the cluster...before i return it...i will change the red bulbs to green bulbs or regular bulb with light condoms...so it will light up green again

I think you'll find that it won't look the same; since the dealership will be going over the car with a fine-toothed comb at turn-in time to find defects to charge you for, it could get expensive, even if you don't end up with a possible mileage-tampering issue.

I'm quite curious as to why you (your mom?) leased a car when you had $$$$$ just sitting around for that extensive list of mods?
