Default new wrx/new forum. (Maine...holla atcha boy)

Just signed papers today on a new left over 06 wrx limited.Traded in an 06 limited ed. daytona charger for our new blue toy.We thought it would be a good move as the subaru seems to be a good safe ride for my wife to use as a daily driver back and forth [100miles a day]to work. The western mountains of maine gets its share of bad weather and the all wheel drive , as a safety feature, was major selling point. As for me, after haveing many rides over the years, mustang corvette.charger,i was very im[pressed with the power and steering ability of this little car.Wish we could have come to terms on the STI but the dealership was stuck on MSRP and i was NOT going to pay that much....see you all around the forum ...thanks ...mr wzrd.

Welcome to the sickness that is subaru. I'll stir the pot for you. Full exhaust and a tune will improve your gas milage by as much as 5-7 mpg.

This statement is not wrong at all. But it is incomplete.

The truth of the matter is that an ECU and an exhaust will gain you MPG and POWER at the same time. But, that is only if you don't have a heavy foot. I actually lost just a little bit of MPG when I upgraded and that was because I had a heavier foot.

Enjoy the car and all its goodness. Some thinks to look out for though are:

The stock tires (RE92s) stink. You should get rid of them as soon as possible.

There is a issue with lift of throttle in mid turn. The car breaks the rear loose.

AWD = SUPERMAN. When the weather is bad you should still be careful.

Have fun with the car and welcome to out community.

Welcome!

This summer or late spring, you should plan a meet up there... I know myself and the wife would be up for coming up for a weekend of cruise and maybe BBQ in the mountains of Maine.

Shawnee Peak maybe 30 minutes max from my camp. Ever heard of Stanley Pond in around the South Hiram area? I've got a little cabin up there on the pond. A couple years ago, when we had snow, i would go up there snowmobiling and go right in front of Shawnee Peak on Mouse Pond. It's a great area up there.

Maybe I missed it, but where did you buy your car? I live just over the boarder in NH where Profile Subaru is located, but IMO their sales department absolutely sucks. I drove down to Patriot Subaru to buy my '05 and then again for my '06 WRX. Nothing but good things to say about them!

We must live quite close, were on the other side of fryburg.Talked with profile and they didnt have what i wanted.Ended up at patriot subaru where we got a pretty good deal.Took some time and some talking but we came to terms.Still wish i could have got the STI...Question? how is the service department up to profile,it sure is a lot closer for service work then driveing down to saco.

Yeah, I live in Bartlett.

They never have anything in stock. I've never seen an STI there ever, and their WRX inventory is weak. They pretty much just sell Outbacks and Legacies. They've pissed me off many times over the years for different reasons.

Their service department is decent for warranty stuff. I usually go to Importech in Conway to have mod work done.
