Default Timing belt change

I'm about to do a timing belt change to my car, what all do i need to purchase so I dont have to go through it again? Where would be a good place to purchase the product? Dealership or Autozone/Pepboy...etc?!

Get a Subaru Belt. You don't need anything different. That and change the water pump and T-Stat while you're in there. I sourced mine from a dealership.

At the dealer we dont replace the pump or thermostat unless it is leaking which doesn't happen all too often. But I do recommend getting the subaru belt and replace the tensioner as they are prone to leaking and loosing tension. Buy your parts from us at www.subaruwrxparts.com you'll get a great discount if you order the parts from us online.

Get a non-stretch belt, they are only a bit more money, water pump, tensioner, t-stat and gasket. May be a good idea to swap in some new accessory belts. Just basic hand tools. Drain the coolant, pull the radiator. Remove acc. belts and belt tensioners, timing covers. You will want to hold the cam gears in place also.

You would benefit from the service manual pages or Scoobymods. A non stretch belt is kevlar reinforced-Power Enterprise $178 at Z-1 Performance. You need a hardened pin to pin the tensioner for install. The blue PE belt does not come with timing marks. I transfered them from a new OEM belt which was returned. Or you could mark your old belt after you rotate it to line up before you remove it.

The one I used 6 months ago must have been one of the unmarked ones. Check with the vendor and ask for a marked one. It will be easier.
