I have an exit interview on Monday at 3 pm. Still deciding if I should tear some people a new one, or be nice.

It's common when you quit a job.

They want to find out why you're leaving.

This is done by big or good companies. That way they know why people are leaving and can try and fix it. Big companies do it just because its common. In general this stuff gets ignored.

BTW, to point out how retarded big companies are... my wife works for a very large market research firm, she transferred departments and had to do an "exit interview" with her old HR team.

yeah. that's also fairly common.

on a lighter note, only 1 of the 16 people in the meeting know that today is my last day working for this client. a person that didn't know asked if i would have time to work on a project next week. i responded with "email me next week and setup a time to meet". the one guy that knows didn't even catch on.

good deal man

I've got 15 days left in the business sales office of a recently aquired telecom company. Finally decided to move out of sales and headed into the network side of out business. Sales quotas aren't meaning an awful lot right now.

The best question I ever got the only one I've had was "Would more money have made you stay?" After I listed "salary" as one of the reasons for leaving.

I answered "Well, don't you think that's a dumb question?"

Actually, exit interviews can be really helpful - as people are often pretty honest. Companies can identify triggers for why people leave, how to keep them, etc. Plus, it's not usually with your manager, so it can be a way for them to identify HR issues that may have been dormant.

They can be really helpful if the company pays for them. Eh, I know mine is going to ask the more money question, and Im going to say "Wait, what? Ive been raping you for time-and-a-half, +25 for weeks now. Bitch, are you retarded?"
