Default Swap or just sell????? PLEASE HELP!!

OK so i have a 02 wrx and i'm getting close to finally paying it off. i'm stage 4 now and power is fun and all but i want more. i want a sti bad but dono if i want another payment it might be nice to not have to make one for a while. SO basically what my question is is that should i just go all out and do a full swap gt35r turbo, brakes, bride seats and call it a day or just get a sti, skip the brides and just get a gt35r? any help would be appreciated thanks!

If I was in your position, I would enjoy the no payments for a while and stick with the stage 4. Maybe tune if you don't have one?

On the other hand, full swap is , but it's a lot of money.

I would keep the bugeye while saving up and which ever breaks first (tranny, motor), go with STI (jdm ) semi-closed deck and bulletproof tranny replacements..and plus our cars are the best looking

Well a USDM STi would be a lot less hassle, especially if you kept it stock or brought it to a very mild tune (ala stage 2). However like you said you are dealing with monthly payments, and a rather large jump in insurance (esp. if your driving record is anything less than squeaky clean). Also a bugeye STi is going to be a very unique car which very few have in the US. Some of the best cars on NASIOC are swapped bugeyes (read Bumblebee 03 Capt Crunch just to name a few.)

Well think of it this way.

Trade in value = 12000.00 to 150000.00
New STi = 32000.00 to 350000.00
Difference = $20,000.00 (give or take)
What would your WRX be like if you spent 20k on it?

I don't think he would get approved for a $20k loan just for parts like he would with a car

Never know. I know if I wanted 20k loan my bank would give it to me without question. But then again I own my house outright. But thats not my point. My point was for the money he is going to spend on buying an STi he could make his WRX 10x better. Plus if he has good enough credit to get an STi there is no doubt he could get a loan to cover the cost to a motor/tranny swap.

get a used sti and slap a gt35r on it, considering you can get a used one for 22k.

yeah but its also a lot more of a hassle to get a loan for 22 thousand and just go buy an sti from a private seller

ya alright considering personal loans are the hardest loan to take out. He may be able to cover a motor/tranny swap if he had half to put down or put the bank on his car lien.

No way will he get 20k out without some type of huge downpayment or putting the bank on his car lien - which would be just like not paying it off. Not to mention an extremely long and reputable credit history.

thats besides the point - i'd stick it out with the bugeye

Stick with the bugeye and enjoy the no payments for a while and when you are ready do the swap call up Precision Tuning. Being from South Jersey Im sure youve heard of them, talk to Rich and he will tell you you best options.

chances are if he has a stage 4 wrx, he has done extensive suspension and brake mods. if thats the case, all he'd have to do is swap to tranny, motor, engine management. a full sti swap including brakes interior and the whole shebangabang would be a bit more. 20 grand is more than enough to play with though...and youd probably make up a reasonable amount of money when you sold stuff off the car you didnt need for the swap.

If you're planning on keeping the car until the doors fall off then keeping moding the car you have as you've got money to do it. If you want something with a good resale value, then go with the STi. To the general public, mods don't add value so it's got to be something you do for yourself.

Personally, I say keep on keepin' on with the car you have. That's what I'm doing... I'm going to own it until the doors fall off so I don't care about resale value. I've been without payments for a while now and I love it! Now the mods I make are on the car I actually own! And, now I can consider buying a bike and make payments on that instead!

Well personally I believe the 22B was the best looking WRX ever. However I like the STi bugeyes, and the JDM "replica" bugeyes here on NASIOC. But thats just me.

But ... if one did find that kind of money ... one could have almost 600 whp (reliable) + ppg dog box + 2x quaifes + cusco center diff + ...

Now that *is* fun!

If you are going to put a lot of money into an 02 WRX, make sure all the mods are covered if it gets totalled.
