Default Old school flight sims...I can't use my old disks :(

I didn't really think about these 3.5in floppy disks I had with my old flight sims.
Jet Fighter 2 and Chuck Yeager's Flight Simulator. I remember the original Microsoft flight simulator, but I don't have the disk (89/90?). The first two I wish I could play again. I took the old drive out of my win98 machine but it doesn't have the same plugs (IDE instead of SATA).

Does anyone have these two games either in an emulator on a gaming site or as some kind of Java file now? I don't think they're even 1/2 MB in size. Most older 16bit games are around now on online emulators, but I haven't found these yet.

Ring any bells?

I have a PCjr in my attic that has an old copy of MS FS on 5 1/4 inch disks!

Doesn't help though.

You can get adapters to plug an IDE drive into a SATA port.

Search around on the net, I actually wanted to play Star Control 2 and luckily they had released the source code and some fans picked it up and improved it a bit and now I'm playing it! For Free!

also Check some torrent sites or Limewire, they might have it too.

What's the whole deal with torrent sites? I've never used one.

Er - floppy drives don't use IDE cables. They use floppy cables.

If you're desperate, pick up a USB floppy drive for $20.

So... you have 3.5" install floppies but no floppy drive? That's easily fixed.

Both of these are some of my old school fav's. With enough of a buzz, they'll be fun again. I probably haven't played these since '99 or '00 on my old box. I even found Doom 2, D!Zone, Descent II, Test Drive off-road, Driving sim combo pack with Andretti Racing and a few others. Remember when polygon graphics looked "high tech?"

I love the classic fighters they let you fly in CYFS. Don't get into that dive too steep and fast, either. You'll spatter quickly for sure .

Oh that's right.

the sad thing is that a 3.5" floppy will last longer than a burned cd...

Hells yeah! I love the Super Melee on that thing.. I wish it was networked.

To the OP, google 'abadonware' and 'dosbox'.

I got a hold of Syndicate by Bullfrog that way, awesome game still..
