Legacy FS: 95 Legacy L wagon 5MT (Concord, MA) $1400

price reduced yet again; now asking $1100

UPDATE: car is now officially for sale; price reduced again

--asking $1100; will consider all reasonable offers (I've concluded KBB prices are too high)

--around 170,000 miles, mostly highway and suburban
--red (Ruby Mica Pearl), has a roof rack
--AWD, ABS, recent (2-3 yrs) rear rotors/pads
--includes extra (used) all-season tire that matches the ones on it
--originally purchased in MA (ie CA-spec emissions) and recently passed DC inspection no problem
--known problems: AC not working (tool and refrigerant cans included), fuel tank leak, 1 and 2 synchros rough, shifter spring broken (makes 3rd hard to find from 2nd), lots of minor body damage (no serious rust though)
--to be sold strictly AS IS, WHERE IS; seller not responsible for other problems discovered or any failure to pass inspection

E-mail you if you want a pic (believe me, its not very photogenic)

EDIT: adding a few more things:
--front towing hook removal recall has NOT been done

Based on KBB, the condition is between "fair" and "poor." They give a private sale price of $2800 for "fair" but no number for "poor." Their numbers don't account for the snow tires, though, which are good quality and not used much. So I'd say maybe $2500 but open to offers.

Also, we can't sell it until we get another car that my wife inherited, which could take several months. So people are welcome to come see and drive it, but we can't actually sell it right away.

This would make an excellent "sleeper"... ECS could drop in an STi powertrain, suspension and brakes. Nobody will bother you, cheap insurance and its a Subaru.

If I wasnt full up, I would check this car out.

Yeah, I was thinking about putting in a JDM WRX engine (doesn't need to meet emissions) but it would still need a bunch of other work ... might be an interesting project for someone. I would also consider a partout ...

Huh ? Ummm.. No.

It does, unfortunately, still need to meet emission tests in order to be registered in Massachusetts. This particular car is OBD-II compliant so it wouldn't need a full probe up the tail pipe type test, but it would need to pass a scan every other year.

The only passenger cars that are exempted from these sorts of tests in Massachusetts are cars manufactured prior to 1984... and even those must pass a visual.

FYI starting in October, maybe November any car '95 or older will not have to pass emissions, only safety.

^^Interesting; got a link or more info? This news makes the idea of turing it into a project car more appealing ... (probably not for me though)

If you do decide to part the car out, I'll be all over your car... mostly for the little inexpensive stuff.

From what you describe the car is really worth keeping... especially for say some high school/college kid who is looking for cheap and reliable transportation.

^^It still runs fine but it does have some issues; definitely a car for someone with some DIY skills.
