Default Preferred dealer in GTA?

Hello everyone!
Brand new to the Subaru forums, have found a 2004 WRX in what appears to be great shape that I am considering buying.

Can anyone tell me their experiences with Subaru (or independant) shops in the greater Toronto area?

I don't mind travelling to get really good service.

I won't consider C&C Motors in Whitby. Bought 2 Suzuki's from them in the summer of 2000 and their service was terrible on both cars.

Thanks in advance,
Dale

Heard Service at Davenport is good. You should also join the Toronto subaru club and ask there.

Thanks for the input. Just found out a co-worker at my new office has an 04 Impreza and likes Downtown Subaru.

He also said that most Subaru's are built like tanks and that I should look hard at getting the WRX I'm interested in, says it's a very good price and not be too concerned over the high mileage as it looks to have been maintained properly.

I am about to have my first experience with Downtown Subaru next weekend. It will be interesting to see how they compare with Alberta dealerships....

J,
I gather from your comment that Alberta dealerships leave a lot to be desired??

Anyway, left a message for the sales manager at the dealer (not a Subaru dealer) that I would be taking the '04 WRX. My sister knows people at the dealership so I'm pretty sure they wouldn't flog me a lousy car.

The car has the premium package, 140,000 km (all highway) as original owner was using it for business. Wasn't modded, looks like he kept the service up on the car and looked after the car. You could eat off the interior.

The deal is $10,900 CDN plus my 2000 Suzuki Esteem in trade plus taxes.
Good deal??
Brand new to Subaru's so all I have to go by is various articles/comments.

wtf 140k on an 04? that's really high dude, even for highway. Ontario mileage average is about 20-25k a year, that's about double on that car.

Yea, 140k is high but the car went on the road in '03 and was just traded in on an AWD Mazda.

Car was on the road for over 3 years and about double the average yearly miles.

Guy really looked after the car or I wouldn't even go near it.
That's why the price is relatively cheap, the high mileage.
The averages I have seen advertised is half the mileage of this one but double or better on the price.

I bought my 05 STi from Fournier Auto in oakville as well.

They usually deal with imported cars from the USA.

Carful about the London Subaru. Their service is crap, and sales arn't very satisfying people to deal with. They're very keen on scratching window's after washing it aswell (Its happened twice to me. including the tint on the inside after warrenty work).

They were big enough to admit it right off the bat, and after some presuasion they paid to have the window re-tinted by the orginal tinter, and buff the sctraches out (after threatening to take my complaint to Subaru Canada)

Within Ontario, I've dealt with 3 Subaru Dealers:

Subaru of Belleville Ontario
Subaru of Scarborough Ontario
Subaru of Mississauga Ontario

I would have to recommend Mississauga as my choice. They'll even wash your car so it's nice and shiny when they give it back to you. They're really friendly and they're all willing to take the time to chat with you, answer questions, etc. I don't remember who I dealt with for Scarb or Belleville but Bob @ Mississauga is great.

For sales, Scarborough Subaru's Jose is excellent. Really friendly guy, not your typical sales guy, and doesn't mind at all if you call him to arrange service appointments. However, the service department there in my opinion stinks. Great bunch of guys for the most part, but they don't do a great job. And they definitely don't wash your car when they're done, that's for sure.

Thumbs up

Agreed. I purchased my car from Jose Ferradas-Gil and I agree that he doesn't mind going the extra mile. He'll even sit and chat with you if he sees you come in for service (at least he does so for me).

But nowadays I do my servicing with Mississauga. Scarborough's a perfect place to buy but for everything else... you know where I am.

No doubt, I end up chatting with him for at least an hour every time I'm there if he's not busy. Awesome sales person!

I should try Mississauga for service, you're not the first person to say they have good service.

I didn't find the Kitchener dealership to be to bad. The salesman wasn't too pushy and was very helpful in explaining some of my questions about the cars. Anyone else been to this dealership (more than once? Maybe I'm wrong about the dealership??)?

Theres a Subie dealership in Kitchener? The closest ones i can think of are Gemini in Guelph, and SASS in Stratford...

Yep the dealership is on Fairway Road and Manitou Drive. If you know where Fairview Mall is, you are in the right area. It's a bit down Manitou from Fairview on the left hand side (kinda small place but meh).

Not sure if anyone still follows this but ScarboroSubaru has really upped their game over the last 2 years on both their service and sales sides.

I just came back from a service where I had a surprise two-busted wheel-bearings and they were able to take care of me. Not that it's a big deal, but still no free car wash/rinse.

I on the other hand have had horrible service from ScarboroSubaru. I took in my car for a fuel line replacement recall. They forgot to screw on my intake manifold, causing major issues, and I picked up my car yesterday from my mechanic for $1400. Scarboro Subaru's service manager, Randy, stated I BROUGHT the car in to them, with a loose intake. Really unprofessional bunch in service, refused to take accountability for their actions, and, Randy proceeded to hang up on me as I was waiting for a tow, a block from the dealership ten minutes after my departure.

This has now been escalated to Subaru Canada, CP24 in Toronto, OMVIC and small claims court.

So no, I would not recommend Scarboro Subaru.
