Default Broken trunk release

Recently I noticed that the trunk release lever in my 02 LGT stopped working. I think it might be from the nightly freezing temperatures. Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?

I think there is a lever in the trunk to disable the release for theft prevention, if not the release is a long wire to replace.

On the BD Legacys it looks like this:

If that lever accidentally got put into the OPENER CANCEL position, then your trunk release by the front seat won't work. I don't know if the BE trunk looks exactly like that, but I imagine it has something similar. Check that to see if that's your problem.

^^^Yes, check that first....easy fix. If not, try pushing the cable in the trunk more forward to tighten it up. This worked for me.

This goes right next to the parking light switch on the steering column as one of the weirdest things they put in these cars.
