Default the 100 Acre Wood thread

It's getting to be that time of the year again. The 100 Acre Wood rally will happen again in 2007. February 23-24 are the dates and the event is still part of the Rally-America National schedule as well as the Regional Rally championship for 2006. This hopefully means we will have a lot of entries and more top ranked cars as it will be filmed for TV on ESPN2.
Apparantly motel rooms are already starting to become hard to find, so if you even think you might be coming and need a room, get one soon. Motel contacts can be found at the website, www.100aw.org
We will be running the event through Viburnum and Potosi this year so you might consider those areas for motels if Salem fills up.
The National event status also means we will need more volunteers than ever, so please consider coming out to help, even if it's only for one day. Online registration is now up on the website.

Registration will be in Salem at the Holiday-Inn meeting room on rally days and probably at the Salem fire house on Thursday. If you have any questions, I can be contacted at "curt at 100aw dot org".

I'll vouch it's the closest event to Chicago; only 5-6 hours away!

You drive much faster than I do.

I'm probably not going to make it. Doesn't look like the car will be ready in time.

May be there, depending on what my experience on Sno*Drift will be and how many of my Polish Mafia will actually compete

You'll have a great experience at SD unless you hate snow, but who hates snow?

Even if they don't compete, we'd love to have you come down and work a stage. Heck, bring enough friends and you could have your "own" stage

100 AW was my first rally last year; a good event to get to know how a rally is run. Look for another 05 red wagon and that'll be me.

It is starting to look like the only places to stay are at the campgrounds 15 - 20 miles south of Salem. I checked the Holiday Inn Express and their site shows no rooms available. Didn't bother calling the B&B since their rates are usually close to twice the hotel/motel rates.

Now, if somebody needs another person to chip in on a cabin rental I could probably do that.

Dont forget about Rolla MO. It is a college town so it should have some rooms and it is only about 30 miles away. I used to live there for 4 years.

There's a small motel in Viburnum where service is on Saturday. Also check Cuba, Rolla, St. James, or Potosi. The Scenic River Inn in Licking,MO has a rally rate as well.

The schedule and supps are now up on the website.

If anybody was on the fence about coming, we still need volunteers to help esp. on Saturday. Road Marshals are always needed and no experience required. For those that haven't been to a rally, a Marshal sits at intersecting roads to the rally route and keeps non-competitors/locals off of the route and ensures the safety that the road is closed. Plus they get their own spot in the forest to spectate from, free tshirt, lunch and invitation to the free after party Sat. night. Another job we could use help with is Control workers. They time the cars in and out of the stage and is good place to see the cars and drivers up close.

There will also be 4-5 spectator areas if you don't want to volunteer and want to check it out. Those areas will be posted on the website in a week or two and spectator guides will be available at the rally to assist in finding out.

Default Don't be dull.... Come play in 100 Acre Wood!

If you are even thinking of coming to watch at 100AW, volunteer instead. I volunteered at Sno*Drift, my 3rd event, and had a great time.

I saw every car up close by working Start Control on Stage 1 and timed 2 finishes from the comfort of my own car. It's also fun to drive on the stages before or after they are run to get to/from your marshal or time control point. The after parties are fun and not usually open to the public. Not to mention chance to win free stuff, I won a set of Hella 500s at S*D and a Bare Foot Racing team t-shirt (thanks guys).

Don't be dull.... Come play in 100 Acre Wood with us! I'll be there with my WRB WRX Wagon.

Come work, you get rally swag!
I drove the northern half of the course last weekend and its a ball! The spectating will be great but it'd be even better to marshall and see it undisturbed!
