Default "... on job interviews you are being judged by the car you drive...

... so come to _____ Dodge so we can get you approved on a new car!"

I don't think I have ever been judged on a job interview by the car I drive.
God I despise car sales commercials... especially for these slimy/semi-legit dealerships.

I don't even think any interviewer ever saw my car, let alone judged by it.

Exactly, but these stealerships will say anything to get gullible and shallow people to go get a new car. And of course they all say that they will get you approved, but approval on a car loan has NOTHING to do with the dealership and everything to do with the person's credit and the lender.

How can you afford a new car if you're going on job interviews?

Once this guy came with tons of ladders on his truck for an interview... I think that was the reason he didn't get the job. I doubt the fact that he was hammered and parked across 2 handicapped spots had anything to do with it... had to be the truck.

want a loan? I'll make a killing on the interest when you can't afford to pay more than the min payment.

semi-legit dealership?

Is there such thing as a legit dealership?

Hazdaz, it's called marketing. All businesses try to frame doing business with them as a road to success for the customer.

For the record, I DO believe that what you drive can have an effect on a hiring decision, if the hiring manager sees it. Just like not dressing for the part can cost you a job, not driving for it can, too. You will not get hired for a high-level sales position if the VP sees you drive up in a 78 cadillac, and likewise, I doubt a Blockbuster manager will hire you if you roll up in a Jag. In the latter case, there could be jealousy and "If he drives a Jag, he doesn't need this job....I won't be able to rely on him."

i think it has to do more with the condition of the car than what the car actually is

There are jobs out there that are very image-oriented, and there are hiring managers that are very image-conscious, and a BMW or an Outback can mean the difference between hire or no-hire.

Yea, I heard that you can totally screw up and they will pay you $200M to get rid of you.

You can buy a lot of oontzy Dodges with that kind of money... it will surely impress the boss at the next company you interview for.

i actually got a job because I had my subaru at that time. They asked my goals for the next 6mths 1 year outlook that did not pertain to work. I said " well my passion is working on cars and I'm in the middle of building a car.(i didn't say engine swap they would have been lost) So the interview took a different course and I ended up talking about the car more than myself. At the end the guy said "hey if you can do all that to a car we want you here. Any when its done I'm getting a ride!" He had an old justy back 5-8 years ago and loved subies to this day. you should have saw his face when I ended up taking him for a drive 3 months later
