hi
my exhaust was making a noise when the car jerked while shifting. Took it to the dealer yesterday and they will replace the exhaust under warranty. edit: I offered the delearship that I'd like to get the SPT exhaust and am willing to pay the difference from the Stock Exhaust to the SPT one. What I was surprised to find out was that the SPT products void the manufacturer warranty. Funny isn't it. I mean, they are selling the SPT exhaust @ the dealership and it is being advertised in their showroom promo material. All of this would make you believe that Subaru supports Subaru Performance Tuning. It was just funny thats all. If I buy a Toyota Solara and add a TRD Supercharger package on it....my car is still under the original warranty.

When I was looking to buy the car, I inquired about the suspension and muffler upgrade. The dealer said no problem. About 20 minutes after we finished signing everything, I asked about an appointment for installing the suspension and exhaust (as well as how long it would take to get). They told me they wouldn't install it, and by having it installed, I'd void my entire warranty. Thanks guys!

I posted similar complaints about the sway bar and bushing kit.
When I took it in to the dealer to see about installation, rather than pointing out that SOA doesn't want them to install it, they just quoted me a preposterous rate to do the work. When I asked the guys at the Subaru booth at the SF car show last month, they said that all the other companies have similar disclaimers for their "racing" division "aftermarket" parts. While I'm sure the TRD and Ralliart stuff comes with some disclaimers, I'd be suprised if they are as strongly worded as Subaru's. The fact that we can't get a fully factory supported "sport tuned" suspension (like most other mfg's) offered as an option seems to me to be a missed opportunity on their part. |

And these products are not only for lancer but for Montero and Montero sports. Amazing how Mistubishi of America has accepted a local american company to off factory performance parts rather than RalliArt...but they are willing to honor their warranty for not-so-sport-oriented vehicles and Subaru won't do that for its only race car with tons of support by its followers. |
