Default 2001 LLBEAN Valve Cover Gasket replacement

I just bought a 2001 LLBEAN. I was told i need the valve cover gaskets replaced. I went to the dealership---huge bill to do that.

They said you have to release lower motor mounts and lift engine to get the coils out to remove the gasket cover?

Anyone confirm or deny this?

Also, if you don't have to remove the mounts, can you just take them off and replace them like most cars?

Any help is appreciated.

Also, do they make a chiltons for the 3.0??

no chiltons for the 3.0litre.
the boxer layout makes getting to things like the valve covers difficult, but not impossible. lifting the engine like they say would make it immensely easier, but it may be possible to do the job without doing that. Hard for me to say for sure, when i replaced mine the engine was out of the car for a different reason.
those gaskets are pretty simple to replace, but like i said, the boxer layout is what makes it much more time consuming than "most cars" if you or someone you know are mechanically inclined you could do it yourself. the gaskets themselves are pretty cheap. it's not a hard job, just time consuming.
