Default Newb Definitions and guidance

I'm a noob.

Done searching, and i guess i must suck at it, because i havent found answers to the following questions. Plz help.

1) Total Timing Advance = base timing map + ignition correction map (KC) (provided the ecu doesnt change the KC values)

IAM = Initial Advance Multiplier? How does this fit in to timing?

2) Boost control... whats the difference between turbo dynamics proportional gain, and proportional continuous?

3) Fuel Map.... how the heck do you even begin? I've got EGT, O2 i'm considering getting, but... temps (and i'm sure its the same with 02) change so rapidly during a pull.. its difficult to make out anything! Unless i use an un-shielded EGT probe, with a data logger, placed right at the hot cylinder exhaust manifold, i wont really know whats going on... theres too much delay (1 second or so) with a shielded probe in the lower half of the manifold. There is also tons of heat-soak issues between runs, the data isn't really meaningful because EGT on one run, isn't always comparable to an EGT on the next run. I'm tempted just to start with EV8SIV's stage 2 fuel map table, and work off of that. I dont wanna put anyone down... but do you guys just guess? heh.

4) ability to change WGD table based on gear, or something other than TPS... i heard this was in the works with enginuity.... any leads as to if its out or coming soon?

I think thats it for now.

THanks guys!

To save myself some typing, please refer to Cobb's AccessECU Tuning Guide on their forum, it's a good document and will answer questions 1 and 2.

AccessECU Tuning Guide and Worksheet for Subarus

3. You need a WBO2 before any cats and post turbo to tune fuel. Period. Anything else and you are just guessing. Assuming that ev8siv's maps were tuned with a WBO2, those should be OK assuming that your long term fuel trims are OK. I certainly wouldn't go any leaner and would tend to err towards richer without a WBO2 to verify.

4. I will refer you to the Enginuity forums for the latest. I would guess it's not going to happen for at least a month, but could be 3, or could be never!

For 16bit ecus (i.e. yours):
Timing = Base Timing + (Ignition Correction * IAM/16) - (Feedback Correction) +/- (Fine Correction Learning)

Feedback correction is the immediate reduction in timing due to knock and is temporary. Fine Correction Learning is an 8x8 table stored in ram of positive or negative corrections based on feedback correction patterns.

EDIT: There are also various timing compensation such as those based on coolant temp and intake temp.

Tune with gain to improve initial spool or to reduce a boost spike upon initial spool. Tune continious for boost hunting after target has been reached.

If you're going to tune fuel, a wideband O2 is mandatory.

I've been running this on my car for several weeks now (02 wrx). Works great. I am in the process of integrating this and launch control into RamTune real-time tuning and map switching. We have no estimate release data as the functionality still needs to be added to Enginuity, but we are going to release all 4 features at the same time. Probably at least a few months.

I'll like to know how the num. inputed in the gain and proportional afect the spool. Like neg num do= and pos. num do =.
Thanks in advance.
