Default Need help with tires

Hi everyone,

I am planning on purchasing 17x7.5 Rota SDR rims and 215/45/17 tires from subydude in April. These tires are only going to be used in the summer so I am looking for a high performance summer tire. However, I live in Ann Arbor where I see very hot and dry days as well as very rainy days therefore I need the tires to have great dry and wet grip. I was hoping you guys could recommend me the best tire from the subydude lineup in the 215/45/17 size that will fit my needs. I want to try to get into autox for fun this summer as well so I would like to be able to do some autoxing on these tires. Here are the options that I am looking at. Let me know what you guys recommend:

Kumho Ecsta 712
Toyo Proxes T1-S
Yokohama AVS ES100
Toyo Proxes 4

Thanks for all the help. Also, I like long treadlife and relatively quiet tires, but I know that there is some tradeoff for performance so please let me know what you think the best tire for my situation is as well as their downsides such as noise and treadlife.

go to atleast a 225/45/17. the 215 is better suited for a 17x7 wheel.

the 215 is going to have the VW fanboi stretched tire look:

Oh and i would go with the Kumho SPT (not on your list) then next would be the Proxes 4

of the tires you'd mentioned... wither of the TOYO's would be a great choice..

I've personally used all that you've listed and would stay away from the other two... in fact.. these are on the top of my personal list of tires to avoid when making reccomendations to friends... etc..

oh, and +1
on going to a 225/45-17.. I have 215/45's stretched onto my junk 7.5" ASA winter wheels.. but they are winter wheels.. only.. so I wanted a narrower tire.. in your case...
225/45

hope this helps..

Hi guys, I forgot to mention, but it is in my profile. I have a wagon. Will I have to roll my fenders with 225/45/17? I do not want to have to roll my fenders. Thanks for the help.

Also, I only listed the tires on subydude's list that offered 215/45/17. There are others on the website that offer 225/45/17 such as:

Falken Azenis ST115
Falken Beta GR FK-451
Kumho Ecsta 711

Thanks for the input. Does anybody have any more information? This is my first time buying performance summer tires and I really would like to get a great set. Thanks for all the help.

225's will fit just fine under your wagon. no need for a fender roll.

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I am likely to get the Toyo Proxes4 in 225/45/17 with 17x7.5 SDRs. So is everybody pretty sure that I won't have to roll my fenders? Also, the SDRs are offered in two offsets +48 and +53. Which offset should I get? My car has a completely stock suspension and brake setup.

Thanks again

GoodYear Eagle F1 GS-D3's great tire in the dry or wet ! Cant go far wrong with them, they are also a good AutoX tire.
