Default 255 or 245 on 06 STI?

Alright guys I have searched and just figured Id post and ask for help...

Looking to get some new summer tires when i swap off my snows in the spring...going to be putting them on my stock BBS rims.....wondering what everyone recommends for size and brand/model.....

i have heard 245 is the biggest the stock sti can handle before any rubbing issues and having to roll the fenders(which isnt a major problem a local shop does fender rolling if need be) but id rather not spend the money.....i just want to spend the money on a good tire with some good with on the stock rims...i mostly daily drive by sti but occaisionaly go to the drag strip with friends and will possibly try and autocross or roadcourse this year...

any help would be greatly appreciated...

What suspension are you on? At stock ride height on stock wheels, I believe 275s will fit.

If it's your Daily Driver, I'd say 245/40-17, or 245/45-17. They'll fit correctly on the 17x8 BBS, you won't have to worry about rubbing, and you'll be adding some extra width for some more grip. Don't know if it matters to you, but remember, the bigger the tire, the more weight you'll be adding, so you MPG will suffer a little.

Many have run 255 40 17 on the stock wheels with lowered suspension on 05+ sti's with no problems.

^^ Agree with all of the above!^^

To add, wide tires on narrow wheels also makes your steering response suffer since the tire is not properly supported.

I vote for the 245/40's myself...there are a good amount of choices in that tire size and it will give more options if you more spring options if you ever want to lower the car.

Still on stock suspension...been looking at pink springs or a set of coilovers....i havent made up my mind if i want to drop all that money into coilovers....the fenders will need to be rolled to fit anything above a 255 on 05+ stis correct? got a picture of 275s on stock rims and suspension?!

It is my daily driver....was just looking for a little more width....im getting pretty good gas mileage now on cobb stage 2 soon to be protuned....i was originally considering 245/40-17s but heard it was possible to squeeze 255's on without having to roll the fenders....i will be hitting the dragway and auto-x/roadcourse with it occaisionaly and want a little wider tire area.....

Awsome i was looking for that answer....from what i gathered most guys fitting that size were using the Falken Azenis Rt-615's any other tires youve heard fit?

yes thats why i was asking this to see what would fit and what would be good all around....

Have a lot of people had good luck with the Falken Azeni 615's? Any other tires you guys recommend for daily driving and some tracking?
