Default Are the 2.5 RS and WRX the same Motor?

I was just wondering if the WRX is just the 2.5 RS motor, with sleaves in it bring it down to 2.0 and lower compression pistons?

Or, are they 2 competely different motors?

I saw that they have some big bore kits for the WRX that can bring it up to 2.5.....so I was just wondering???

thanks!

The EJ20 and EJ25 are different motors, but very similar design.
AFAIK the EJ20 was designed with turbo applications in mind and as such has stronger cylinder walls, etc. than the stock EJ25.

Interesting. I haven't seen any of the big bore kits for the WRX. I have seen a stroker kit that ups it to 2.2L though.

Yeah, they're completely different motors.

EJ20 is 2.0 liter DOHC 8:1 Compression.

EJ25 is 2.5 liter SOHC 10.2:1 Compression.
