Default 2006 Stage 3 WRX 18G

Hi everyone,

I have a general question for the well knowledged subie tuners.

My current mods are the stock air box, sti intercooler, FP 18G, Cobb TBE, the bored restrictor pill, walbro fuel pump, stock injectors, and Cobb 91 oct maps.

I have a KN Typhoon that i used to use when I was stage 2. Can I put the intake back on the stage 3 without getting it re-tuned and just running the 18g maps?

Or is this uber bad?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

-johnny

it's a better to have the intake off if you're using an OTS map right now. until you get it tuned i wouldn't risk it and it's probably not worthwhile atm.

did you upgrade your intercooler?

I beleive the cobb notes say that they can only gaurantee their intake to work with thier map. It is in the notes though so check it out. BTW I'm gonna have the same set up except the 93 map. How does it run compared to the stg2? How is the lag compared to stg2? Thanks and good luck

their is a very visible difference in size between the stock turbo and the 18g. it pulls very nicely vs. a stage 2. it works great for what I want it to do. it's a reasonably quick daily driver and weekend warrior. if you want some extra power, but without the fear of breaking something all the time then this will wirk for you.

i don't have dyno numbers. but it is considerably better than stage 2.

the restrictor pill needs to be drilled according to cobb specs for the 18g to work properly. the specs are on the cobbtuning.com website.

the install was super easy. i have absolutely no mechanical background, but I did it in an afternoon. i am just subie nut, that read/memorized the instructions and went by the book.
