Default AP1 or AP2?

I just got my tax money back so i figured its stage 2 time... I found a place where i could get a V1 for 500ish.. Should i get it or cough up the extra 200 bucks for the V2? Also what are the main differences between the two of them?? I heard u can only reflash the ECU 100 times, one of the main reasons i want AP is so i can use the fuel economy map on the weekends when i drive 300+ miles. Does that mean i can only switch to the economy map 50 times??? HELP!!!

How about an AP1 for $400 on here. Or how about a $90 tactrix cable instead?

People claim there is a flashing limt, yet no one has ever had a failure from too many flashed. Most people in the open-source world now feel its BS.

Whatever you do, don't buy it for the economy mode. There's only a slight difference in fuel economy, certainly not worth spending hundreds of dollars on.

For the $4 you save in gas every weekend, you could have spent $300 less with opensource...kind of hard to justify.

I wouldn't recommend the v2 at this time. Too many little bugs and not all the promised features are out yet.

v1 is fine, and to save the 200 bucks its worth it imo. economy mode is not that great, but the expandability with the cobb makes it worth it on either version. like stated above, the v2 doesnt even have the promised features yet, more or less buying a v1 for a higher price and a flashier unit until the new software comes out for them. imo i would go with the ap as it will suit you for some time, and keep you from having to run to your tuner every time you change something.

for your car, a tune of some short is a neccessity. the 05s are prone to engine knock with a tbe and no tune. the cobb is so easy a caveman could do it (geico style ) in all seriousness, i would recommend the cobb for anyone that wants a basic tune for basic modifications such as your tbe. if you start going into deeper modding, the cobb will still work for you but you will have to find a pro/street tuner in your area.

I own a cobb AP ver. 2... I havent experienced any bugs with it (altough i've only flashed a handful of times to try out a few maps) and I love it. Although the new software hasn't been released, which I'm very mad about since there are so many features that havent been released.

I still like the AP overall though, its a much cooler device with good features on it (and more to come!), great for those w/ TBE and other mods looking for an extra boost in HP

Exactly my thoughts. I love my AP2. I went from mid 13's w/ TBE to 12.8's w/ TBE and AP2. No problems at all.

I like the AP V2. The color screen and smaller size are nice. Once the new features are released, as well, it will be even nicer.

the mapping is the same for the v1 and v2.....that is a result of tuning, not of using the new version ap.

im also selling a v1 for an 05 wrx as far as risks, there are risks with any tuning, but if the directions are followed correctly it eliminates most.
