Question Service History Question

I've been wondering if Subaru could void my warranty for never getting it serviced at the dealer. The service would be done at the recommended time/mileage(or more), and logged into my account on my.subaru.com but just not performed at a dealer. Anyone see any validity to this?

good question

save your reciepts. I'm in the same boat as you but then again I'll probably drive out of the warrenty long before the time expires. I bought it in 3/01 and I already have 25K

subaru reps have the set to lay it out for us?

Yea, I guess saving receipts is the best I can do, but I don't know how good that'll be. Especially for the 1st 30000 when it's just check/inspect this or that. I'm already ahead of them on oil because I'll never let a car go 7500 miles before an oil change. I guess maybe the best receipt to keep will be the one for buying the factory service manuals...
Oh and yes subaru has the set of services laid out, in bth the service manual (included with the car) and online at my.subaru.com

Just keep ypur receipts, if your changing fluids like your supposed to chances are you won't need to worry about warranty repairs anyway. And if the problem is not related to maintenance (ie window regulator, 02 sensor) it doesn't matter because the failure is not related to maintenance.

I guess I forgot to mention I'd be doing all this stuff myself, which for my abilities, most doesn't see too hard. I'll let them do the timing belt when the time comes, but other than that I should be ok. Especially when I get the volume of service manuals. Thanks for the replies,
Bryan

They can't void your warranty for not going to Subaru to get maintenance done. I'm doing the same thing...my car has only been to the dealer to get the O2 sensor recalled, I've done all the maintenance and plan to do all the rest. I have an excel spreadsheet listing date, mileage, and what was performed. No receipts, but then receipts for oil aren't really necessary and there are no receipts for checking the brake pads and rotating the tires.

If you intend to keep the car a long time, I wouldn't worry about it. If you intend to sell it privately, one thing I would look for would be a maintenance book full of dealer stamps. But then I stood in the garage to watch them change the O2 sensor. Trust no one.
