Default 99 RS to a 99 RSTi! Go ahead, FLAME me!

For those of you who know me and know my car, I have now desided to swap out my tired RS setup and put in the fresh 06 STi driveline from a deceased "totaled" doner. All helpful comments are welcomed. If you want to flame a so-called NEWBE, Keep it to yourself!

PM Acquacow from the Midatlantic boards. He's got one he's done a lot of work on. He bought the car swapped but it had a bunch of gremlins to work out. He might not be a bad person to go to if you come across something weird. His might be an 00, and i'm not sure what year STi the engine/drivetrain is out of.

I'm not going to flame because I want one!

Why would ANYONE flame you for that? Only reason I can think of is jealosy! Since your 2-door RS looks better than any new STi (they couldn't get a 2-door if they wanted one!) and is what? 500 lbs lighter with the same drivetrain...

Any flaming you for this swap is either fear or jealousy... pure and simple.

(heh.. they flame me all the time for my STi ver 3 swapped 2000 RS 4-door. But it's cause they are SKEEERD )

I do not want to do the Interior because I want to keep it a sleeper, But someone said I had to I have been flamed for asking questions, But when I am done with this, look out!

I had picked up a totaled car from the auction that was slid into a tree and the tree fell on the car, or was it a phone pole?

Nope, you don't have to swap the interior. If you do though, contact eastcoastswappers.com. They've done four or five interior swaps so far.

Grats on the swap, btw! The RS with boost is sick fast...let alone an EJ257 slipped in there.

Have you posted this on RS forum?

swapping the seats would be worthwhile if they are in good condition.

The seats, well I like them, but I want it to look as stock as it can without beig a dead givaway except the 18" wheels!

We have a guy here in Jacksonville that works at the Subaru shop that built his RSTi with the JDM STi engine.

You might know my car, I picked it up from Chris Johnson ( chrisj ) from Jacksonville, Fl. I have had a lot mechanical problems with it and now with it being a high milage car, I need to replace a lot of stuff.

I have decided that a sleeper subie is kinda dumb... no offense, but they will hear the turbo spool, and everyone knows that subarus are sick fast turboed.. well not sick fast but you know what I mean.... thats like having a sleeper z06... just swap the seats and find the STI gauge cluster... make that thing sick... forget about sleeper. we all know what you got... good luck on the swap man... i have been dying to get my hands on a 99-00 rs shell and ej20 that beast... but funds are the issue.

sorry for my 2 cents..

Like my friend Mark (Who has a 2000 RS) say's, "The only GC8 that needs a hair dryer in it has the steering wheel in the passanger seat!

The RS's definatally handle better, at least his does. I love driving that thing, it feels like it sticks to the ground. My STi didnt start getting that feeling until I did the tophats and JDM "Pinks". I can still feel heavy where the RS just doesnt.
