jus received this, thought id let you all know, i should be there along with quite a few very interesting competitors, namely an autox-uber-prepped itr, a 10-second supra which probably wont do too well, and a touring prepped 911 racer:
Fellow Autocrossers: This just in. Autocrossers, Inc. (AI) has secured the use of the parking lot at Six Flags amusement park for an autocross to be held Sunday, December 9. Pre-registration will open this coming Friday (November 30) at 8:00pm. On-line pre-registration will be provided - details by Thursday. Here's what I know so far: - 3 heats, 40 cars (a 4th heat may be added) - split heat, 20 run/20 work - $25 entry fee - 4 runs per car - starting times: heat 1 9:30, heat 2 11:15, heat 3 1:00 - no points/trophies, practice event, passengers (meeting requirements) allowed - Preregistration to open this Friday evening @ 8pm - POC will be Andrew Cole, laserandy@aol.com, (443)838-6278 - "The lot is huge" - Directions: FROM DC beltway: Exit 15 East, Rt. 214 Central Ave. to Main Six Flags of America entrance, turn left... FROM Baltimore: I 97 South Rt 3 South cross Rt. 50 Rt 301 South turn onto Central Ave. Rt 214 West Main Six Flags entrance, turn right..... once you enter the main gate the lot is to the far left, 6 Flags is supplying signs Cheers, Michael Patnode mpatnode@autocrossers.com

Just got your e-mail from the AI site! I'm trying to get my car back by the 9th and test out the new(er) engine. By chance, what are the SCCA rules for replacing the engine with a newer model engine of the same size? Just curious.
I ended up purchasing a 2001 Legacy motor and am dropping that in this week to replace the crap 97 engine that I had with a blown headgasket! Jason |

SCCA will be using the Fed Ex field car test lot next year instead of Frederick!

I believe that it would put you in C Street Prepared, because it would be updating, which AFAIK is not allowed in the stock category. You'd be racing against modded Type R's, Miata's, Non turbo RX-7's, E30 M3's...not sure how fair that is though ![]() |

Assuming you have done a stock swap, and don't have any other mods like an intake or swaybars or whatever, I think you should run E Stock. If you have other mods, STS.
A motor swap for repair is probably covered somewhere under the SCCA rules - the 2001 is a SOHC, but I don't think the hp/torque figures are any different. In the grander scheme, unless you beat people in E Stock who want to challenge your car to a tech inspection, it doesn't really matter. |

if i have the free time (finals week, ugh) i'll take the trip up and see how things are going... don't think i'll race as my Dunlop SP5000's have taken a beating with the last 3 i've done... and i'd like to keep them in reasonable shape until i can offord to buy a second set of rims with race rubber on em... but i'll go to watch...

I think NOS will make you a street-prepared class for sure.

You can run in STS or G Stock. I think that you would be legal in either catagory. (oops, forgot the NOS, you would be in SM - GOOD LUCK competing in THAT class)
I'll help you out. Hopefully Eric K and Richard will be there. THEY are the experts! Walk the course at least TWICE - and remember slow in, fast out... |

I don't think NOS is allowed in ANY class. STS if you leave the bottle at home.

I'm with blaster on that one. I'm pretty sure no club will let you run with the bottle in the car.

Okay Ken,
For starters, you've one-upped me in the modification department. However, I'm always up for a little friendly competition . . . Why not? Jason |

I'll be in the third heat. Sounds like there will be something of a scoobie showdown. Fun!
