Default Impreza=Legacy?

Can someone tell me exactly what is compatible between the Impreza/WRX and the BE Legacy??

Most suspension pieces in the front. Anything that can bolt on to the NA EJ25 motor (check if you have PhaseI or Phase II) will work or will work with a little modification.

rear...ugh rear diff protector and that's IF you don't have an aftermarket exhaust (for me at least...I still need to cut a piece of mine off to fit).

New impreza and BD have much more in common. The BE is a generation ahead and the 05+ is two. Anyway the big chassis differences are in the rear suspension. 00+ Legacies have a multilink setup where the Impreza still has the macphearson coilover strut + lateral links. The driveline, brakes, wheels, and I think front suspension parts are still compatible though.

Either way, the whole "exactly what is compatible" question isn't easily answerable. Is there something in particular you had in mind?

^ditto. The list of compatible/incompatible parts is too long to list! Check out my swap thread for more info about driveline and such. I swapped an 03 WRX driveline iinto my 00 BE legacy.

L's start at 3200lbs + change, GT's 3300lbs+, Beaner wagons can go to 3400lbs.+

The "big change in weight" isn't that big of a difference compared to the older Legacies...and considering that the Impreza's, WRX's, and STi's are all pushing close to 3200lbs-3300lbs as well...it's not really exact to call the BE/BH cars pigs.

07 impreza STI base weight of 3,351
07 legacy sedan outback LL bean weight of 3,570
07 legacy wagon outback LL bean weight of 3,600

not a huge difference.

So that's what, four sorority girls, or three and a lot of beer?

There is a lot of Impreza stuff that lines up nicely, but some compatibility issues exist, like the way the exhaust lines up around the converter for headers, or spring perches in the front suspension. As stated above, it's best to be more specific... or even see what the rest of us have done in other threads.

Seats will transfer with no modification. Apparently the seat height is higher.

Steering wheel is easy.

Recently several BE/BH people have gone with used STI axle backs (exhaust). I will be doing this myself. Modification is necessary.

Pulleys are the same but probably not most other engine pieces due to lack of turbo.

Suspension:
End links are the same.
Steering rack bushings should be the same. (whiteline part number is KSR202 I think).
Sway bars, springs and struts will not work.

I'm pretty sure strut tower bars will not work.

Brake parts are different but you can swap but there is little advantage.

Strut tower bar will work, sorry only pic I have. It's a generic one off ebay, for a GC impreza

ALK will work (that's going on next, maybe...)

Steering rack bushings work (I have them)

Front endlinks and swaybar bushings work (ditto)

Front tophats work

I never got confirmation on the swaybar though, I didn't bother checking mine vs. a pic.

Brakes work (rears not needed), front brake lines work.

Oh yeah, headers, catalyst section will work. Cams will work, panel filter will work, same procedure to put wrx injectors will work, and *some* GC skidplates will work if you drill a couple of extra holes in the front.

Thanks alot guys, I appreciate it. I was just looking into some aftermarket parts for the BE, and just wanted to know since both legacies and impreza's have the same engine, and I've heard some people say that suspension parts would fit also. I was mainly looking into just lowering springs for now, not doing too much until warm weather comes back

Springs don't work because of the Legacy rear suspension. I think ion makes springs for your car though.

Forgot to add, we use the same gearbox as the GC RS, so clutch, rear diff will work as well.

02-03 front brakes is what BE/BH's use, so don't go off buying 03+ pads.
