Default Anyone without any cats?

I am curious if anyone on here with no cats and a straight through muffler have been getting flames from the exhaust? I am guessing more so on DOHC 98s when tend to run much more rich?
Thanks

Umm.. no cats are bad for the environment, and we don't drive Mustang's so we aren't going to gain a whole lot of extra power.

Flames will shoot from most cars without cats, I don't think it matters if its a MY98 or MY01.

Korey
..I'm sure a few ppl run a straight-through muffler..

I dont have any cats, but I have the SOHC 01'. I have never seen flames coming from the exhaust, but have had some pretty good sounding backfires, not to mention a mean sounding boxer. That is what I love about Montana, no emissions, and alot of snow

A few people in past forums have been talking about a HP loss with a straight pipe due to the loss of backpressure, but I have swapped back and fourth from cats to no cats and in my personal opinion I think no cats is WAY better. I guess that it would depend on what you have done, but in my situation no cats is sweet

It's loud.....really loud (and not a good loud either). I took my cats off a year ago when I shipped my car to Kiev (was told unleaded was hard to find). No flames shooting out of my MY00 RS. I run a 2.25" exhaust with Borla Turbo muffler (nearly straight through). Now that I know there's a ready supply of unleaded here, the Cats are going back on. ....Did I mention it's really loud!!

If you had a fuel prssure regualtor you could easily get flames out of it.

For those of you that have no cats. Do you have any problems with your o2 sensors. If so what problem and what are the consequences.

I have thought about doing this for a while but I'm still looking for more information.

Could all you people without cats please email me your real names, addresses and S.S.N.'s? The EPA pays a reward of up to $10,000 dollars for turning in someone who has removed or disabled their emission devices... I could use the money! (kidding, I'm not that much of an *******) And for what it worth, the fines to owners of said cars can be as high as $25,000. It's very bad for the envirnment, please don't do it. If you allready have, pease consider undoing it.

I have my cats *cough* not for long *cough cough*.
How bout you butcher your old cats and weld the plates onto the straight pipe where your cats should be, so it looks like you still have them....no one would be the wiser. No emissions in Quebec either! My brother is catless also, Audis get loud with headers, 3" turbo exhaust (yes he has a turbo) and no cats!

Most Audis/VWs get pretty loud without a cat. Hell, most cars period.

On older cars with old cats working fine, measured by emission tests, the old cats very probaply decreases engine power. Even though the cats gathers the bad emissions they are designed for it takes a lot of pressure to make the gasses go through the exhaust pipe.
Therefore many with an older cars changing their cats to tuning type of cats notices major power increase, even though major part of the increase would have been achieved with only replacing the old ones to new ones.

Well of the topic...umh...had to say something...bad english...
