Psst. Welcome to Honda "V-tec", circa 1991. It took Subaru and Porsche an aweful long time to copy this but the concept works great! Three cam lobes on each cylinder for both cams in DOHC vtec, and three cam followers. There is a solenoid valve from the main oil galley that sends oil pressure to small pistons in the cam followers to lock all three together when commanded by the ECU.
