Flooring the car at lower rpm results in wheel spin pretty quick, so a bit taller gearing would make things much better. I'll let you know how the 07 gears work out!

Jeff Sponaugle

Are you swapping out the whole tranny or you fitting the 07 gears in the JDM case? If you are swapping what year is your JDM tranny?

Nevermind. I found your other post regarding the transmission. You wouldn't happen to have any info on the 02 JDM 6 speed?

I came across the PDXTuning/Perrin Turbo H6 forums while researching desert racing. I am interested in running a Turbo EZ30R in a desert pre-runner/ sand car and the information here has been great. I have gone from a novice to a beginner in one night in terms of turbo tech with the 30R.

My biggest concern in the desert is reliability. What sort of "reliable" power can one expect to get out of a turbo powered 30R runnign on pump gas? I saw numbers near the 400whp mark (I think near 13psi or 16psi of boost), but they were followed by questionable reliability on a nearly stock motor (stronger pistons I believe). Also, I don't plan on running an Aquamist Water Injection System, but an intercooler is a must.

Better yet - is the H6 beast going to be for sale?
Seems like it might be a little better idea to find an OEM 6-cylinder car and build it for cost and complexity reasons.

Either way, this is an awesome project. Exactly what I would do if I had a Subaru!

The info I posted was about the 04 US Tranny, but I actually have an 02 JDM tranny. It is coming apart today to see what will fit, so I will let you know.

If a customer were to drop off a car and want to pick it up complete, I would think the labor alone would be more then $10,000, not including the engine, the $3000 cost to sleve it, the head work, the turbo, piping, the $2000 custom Hydra, custom Pistons and Rods, Valve train parts, etc. My guess is something in the $20K+ range.

Then factor in the multiple builds, the destroyed blocks, head damage, etc. One thing is for sure.. This isn't cheap!
I was still interested till you said 20k+

12k-15k I would consider. 10k I would easilly pay. Especially with the 3.0R Legacy coming out next year(I am not a Impreza fan).

You all did great work on our 05 LGT. 20k+ is ALOT of cash though

20k+ to turn your WRX into what's essentially a less sexy awd porsche turbo w/4 doors aint bad!
I'm trying to get a local shop here to consider doing it.

I am located in Germany and had them do the work on my LGT. We actually flew back there to buy the car and have them do the work.

And 20k is alot of money. Not sayign it is not worht the money. I am just saying that to save 20k I can live with 350HP our car is putting out now.

Well its about that time.... The new 08 is coming out soon, so its time to sell the PERRIN H6!

I would be willing to take offers, or even engine trades?? I am up for ideas. But in case there is anyone serious about doing the H6 swap, this would be a good opportunity.

PERRIN H6 for sale HERE!

It will be at Subyfest this weekend if anyone would like to sit in it or maybe go for a ride..............

You are likly correct that the EZ30 vavles were not designed with turbo in mind as they are not sodium filled. These heads have custom made Supertec exhaust valves for the H6 EZ30R. ( as well as the Supertec intake and exhaust springs, retainers, etc)

I should also note the heads use the same spark plugs as the US STI heads (the deeper reach ones).

Jeff Sponaugle

Could it be the sodium filled valves are used to shave inertial weight (to save hp) and the sodium is there to help dissipate the heat more evenly throughout the shaft since there is less metal to do it?

Well, I hope the car goes to a worthy buyer!!! That is peanuts for an asking price considering the time/money/work put into that beast!! Good luck with the sale.

Lets see, 3.6L in the new hatch might be kind of fun! We will see. As cool as the H6 is, and as powerful as it is, it not for everyone. Our new 08 most likely will be built to show off what anyone can do. But who knows, things change.

Never had any problems with the tranny. I wouldn't expect any issues with the drivetrain except maybe the axles.

Thanks! Its nice that some people understand the Time/Money/Work part of the "price equation"
