Default would 17x8.5 wheels with a 48mm offset fit a GC8? fenders rolled on tein flex's

I have a guy who wants to trade wheels. I need wheels to clear my wilwood 6pot brakes on my GC and the wheels he has up to offer are advan RGII's in 17x8.5 with a 48mm offset.

Would these clear my brakes and Fit my car? the tires he has are 255's and I know they won't fit. I have a feeling these wheels are too wide for my car... I want to run 235/40/17

thanks

Im not trying to sway you. According to tire rack, you can ran 225/45/17 on a 8.5inch rim. If you pick a tire and click on specs it will show you the rims it fits. Here is an example of the Bridgestone RE050A pole position (look under the "rim width range" column):

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...irePageLocQty=

With these you would probably be okay on the fender, Im just not sure about the inside. I think BAN SUVS was running 235's on 17X8.5s but if I recall he had pulled fenders and spacers on the rear to a +44 offset.

kevin (bans) was running a 235/40 S03 (runs wide) on 17x8.5 +44 (to clear the inverted struts)

i say just put the tires on, get the wheels. role/pull and camber to fit it

well I want to avoid spacers at all cost. and I'm more worried about the wheels rubbing on hte strut as much as on the fender. how do u go about pulling a fender?

You should be good to go. I run 17x8.5 with 45 offset over Rotora's and
no rubbing at all. Your best bet is to put them on to see if they fit. A true
friend would do that for you right.

I think it wont work. I used to own 18x8 with 40 offset and that was the limit on my GC8. I don't know how you would run an 8.5 with 48. 48 is perfect for 7.5" wide rims.

also I thought the widest you could go with a gc8 is 215 maybe 225s

I don't remember what profile I was running when I had 17s but I'd imagine to run 235+ you would have to run 35 profile and that would mess with your tachometer's daily driving recording.

Pics?

I want to go wider....

Right now my plan is a 235/40/17 on a 17x7.5.

I've easily seen 235's on Gc's and a few rare cases of 245's. but the part I'm unsure of is a 8.5 wide wheel I've seen 8inch wide work but I don't hear of 8.5.

I'm pushing the limits with 8.5....

also on my car I've ran 225's with out any issue, its begging for more tire lol

Ok, then you can fit it, as long as you are willing to tweak the crap out of the fenders and even cut the fender liner in the front.
