I did not like the idea of open hole in the front bumper. I made this mesh using home depot stuff and painted it gun metal gray. I put door edge rubber beading for a nice finish around the mesh (and not to scratch around) Lets see what you think..!

The mesh is HD gutter cover mesh comes with two stainless steel 'U' clips. Amazingly they clipped right in to the back of the edge of the hole. On the sides and middle, I put 3M double side tape. It is rested on the sides and going nowhere. You may see it as gray tape but actually they are nearly black and not visible in person.

The reason I did is that on my Acura there are so many bent fins on the AC condenser by the rock that have been flying through the hole. Acura has a much smaller opening.

Pretty easy to make.
Buy this mesh from HD. You will need to use the clips
http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...-100012640-_-x

Make a template using cardboard, may be 1/8 smaller than the opening. cut the mesh using snipes..Use leather gloves..be careful not to cut yourself..the edges will be very very sharp. Ruined my t-shirt..! be careful..!
File the sharp edges. Paint it..

Go to Autozone and buy door edge guard and black 3M double sided tape. Insert the edge guard ('U' shape rubber beading)around mesh grill. Glue couple of places if needed. Use a hair dryer to bend around corners.
Stick 3M tape on sides and in the middle of the opening of the bumper. Use the metal clips (came with the mesh) to clip right on to the inside edge of the opening and press the grill to stick on to 3M tape.

Done..!

I have not seen getting collected anything on the double side tape. You can use the same U clips on the bottom part of the grill too.

Or four screws (painted) with a washer at four corners would do as well. The mesh is not sitting against completely hollow area. Two cornes and middle has some "wall" area if you wan to put some screws.

Thanks, I asked the dealer about the missing grill when I picked up the car. Aftermarket pieces seem expensive. I'll do this next weekend

I had some left over universal sheets and decided to mount my grill while I had my bumper removed
Its a closer match but not 100% most people dont even notice. but it hides the radiator. I ended up spraying it with plasti dip and rolled the edges and used zip ties

I also like how the grill is behind the bumper on the blue car. Very clean.

LOL but I wonder if double-sided tape would really have held up against a chicken hit at 30mph or whatever you hit it at...

Yeah too bad I didn't have this done. We could have gotten the answer to that.

I hit mr. pigeon here going about 50 mph. Stupid SOB decided to land about 5 feet in front of my car :/ I think he tried to fly away at the last second and wound up cramming himself into my bumper

Didn't want to start a new thread. But this is my take on it. I used remaining mesh from my hood scoop. Along with Plastidip, little screws and brackets i made out of small pieces of mesh to act like the angle iron with holes in it.

I really like it, and only used 3 mounting points at the middle and sides about 6 inches towards the middle. No problems and its been 3 months in SLC with crappy roads.

Pm me for more detailed pics or a mini "how to"
