SEATBELT CHIME ELIMINATION

DIFFICULTY: 0.5 out of 10.

1. Insert key into ignition. Turn to "Accessory On" position. This is the last click before you would turn the key to start the engine. Your radio and annoying seatbelt chime will be ON.

2. Within 5 seconds of turning your key to "ACC ON", take your seatbelt clip, and INSERT & RELEASE into the buckle 20 times repeatedly. Each time you INSERT the clip into the buckle, it must "click" into place. You must push the release button to remove it. Complete this 20 times within 30 seconds.

3. When you have completed the 20 clicks, turn your key off and remove it from the ignition.

4. Start your car as normal. You will notice that the seatbelt indicator chime will sound six (6) times, then go off. It will NOT come back on until the next time you start your car, and it will stay on this pattern indefinately.

5. To re-active your annoying seatbelt chime, simply unhook your positive (+) battery terminal for 30 seconds to reset the ECU.
It may be different on the newer cars but on my 05 it is a lot simpler than this. Under the driver's seat there is a black sleeved wire lead that goes up to the seatbelt lock mechanism. All you have to do is unplug that and put a jumper wire on the wire harness side. Tape up if you want, done, and won't come back when you reset your ECU.

Dude, this worked great! The seatbelt chime erase is the best. Thanks a million, I hated that damn thing! Def. much easier than unplugging the plugs or whatever. This was very simple. Thanks again,

Everytime I do this the chime is eliminated for the one time the car is on but wont stick after the car is turned off. I've tried it several times and it wont seem to remember it.

I am in the process of disabling the DRL. I have taken off the glovebox but I don't know where the clip/plug is.

Where is DRL plug relative to the cabin filter?

I have an 05 USDM STi. The DRL was put in when it crossed the boarder.

Thanks

Should be the same for you
It is to the right and rear of the car relative to the cabin filter and it is tucked up in there pretty good.

This is what I did, it might be different on my older 95 but I didn't have to jumper anything I just unplugged it, also I disabled the key in ignition waring chime on my coupe I just pulled back the lower trim by the B piller and there is a single wire plug that goes to the door open switch just unplug that and no more chime.

I just did the DRL unplug. I tried doing it without taking out the glovebox first but you would need fingers from Honey I Shrunk the Kids. It took about 10 min with a screwdriver. Super simple. Thanks for the writeup!!!
