Which oil would be best to go with?
5w30
5w40
10w40?

I am running accessport stage 2 w/K&N Short ram intake (2005 STi)
Which for regular winter use on my vehicle (I live in cold michigan) and which one for regular summer use?

Thanks!

Also...what is everyone else with my setup on their STi using? you would think that there are many people with my setup and getting the same oils or should I be getting different oils altogether??? AM I missing something here ?

Definitely NOT the question to ask. Many people run the same thing regardless of their state of tune. Actually, it's a very good question to ask and it's good that you want better protection.

300V is a very thick oil. The 5W30 is 12.0 cst's at 100C so it's nearly as thick as German Castrol 0W30. It's ester based so it should stand up well against shearing unlike some oils which become a 20 weight in less than 3k miles.

Have a look around at the first few pages of the GC & Euro oil forum at bobistheoilguy . There are a few Motul threads. There's also a new ester based 8100 X-Lite 0W30 that's very thick at operating temp.

300v 5W30 or X-Lite 0W30 might be a good choice for winter and the 5W40 might be a good choice for summer. The best thing would be to run one and then do a used oil analysis (check bitog and blackstone-labs.com). Motul's line is being changed as well. More info on bitog.

Based on the last thread I don't know if you are set on Motul, but these folks might have the Motul weight that's right for your location.

We offer a full line of Motul products!

The 300 V Competition stuff will set you back $20.50/2L bottle.

I keep the brake fluids, diff fluids and basic oils in stock. Some of the 300 V stuff is special order but my distributor is local so it would only take an extra day or two.

We also offer oil change specials with a filter and crush ring if you would be interested in those as well.

Thanks,
Jackie
