Default size for winter tires on stock wrx rims?

I'm going to give in and buy some winter tires. what would be the best tire size to get? They will be mounted on the stock rims. I saw one tire on tire rack which was $67 in 205/55/16, and $57 in 205/60/16. Any reason I shouldn't get the 205/60/16? Or should I try to go with something narrower?

Thinner tires are better if you drive in a lot of deep snow, but for the more typical situation of light snow, cold dry pavement and/or ice - normal size tires are best.

The taller tires might be better. It will give you a bit more of a cushion between your rims and the potholes and hidden curbs. Your speedo and odo will be off a little, but not a lot. All-in-all either woudl work well.

So the question is: What winter tires are selling for $57-$67? Most winter tires are better than most all-seasons in cold weather, but there are some winter tires that are just garbage.

Winterforce M+S on tire rack, seems to get decent reviews.

205/60/16 gives a speedo reading that is correct per my GPS unit. 205/55/60 gives me 2-3% slow of a reading. You might get some rubbing at full lock but otherwise this size fits if you aren't lowered

winterforces are fine, a little on the soft side compared to blizzacks, but no softer the lemans SR's that i use for winter, probably grip better than mine though . they are the cheapy of winter tires, but are still a good bang for your buck
