Default Head gasket question

I'm tearing down the 98 outback 2.5 and the timing belt is exposed, intake lifted, valve cover off and exhaust out of the way. Before I remove the timing belt, my question is...Is there any special procedure prior to removing the camshafts to get to the head bolts? I'm concerned about timing issues. Do you just let the cams roll some until they stop, then remove the cams or should you hold the cam sprocket in place, then loosen up the cams? Any info would be great. thanx
