+1 I'm sure it's unnecessary for my driving but it can't hurt.

I only use synth. due to the turbo. You will be more than fine using a quality oil changed regularly BEFORE 5000 miles, just get a decent oil filter or OEM. Synth. MAY only provide you .05-1% increase in hp.

My previous car got 259k miles on dino only every 3k, not driven nicely either.

.......this one is gonna get trashed REAL quick by th idiots, here

sorry, d0000d, but this one question is the biggest idiots playground around here.

Lots of the guys, here, would pour piss into the engine if their 'mechanic' or some other 'famous' idiot recommended it

Most of the d000ds around here have NO CLUE what the numbers even mean, either.

...but don't ask me....I know NOTHING

Uncle Scotty is a fan of 40 weights - especially Mobil1 T&SUV 5w-40 which is identical to Mobil Delvac 1. Unfortunately, the T&SUV formula is now only available in 5w-30. There is a Mobil1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40, but I haven't been able to find it (Nor do I know if its the same as Delvac 1).

Why does HE recommend 40 weights? Search through his 29,000 posts. Keywords will help out....

Currently, I use GC 0w-30. It's almost a 40 weight and stays within grade.

Edit: After looking at the datasheets, I believe Delvac 1 and Mobil1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 are the same.

I run Mobil One...but if I didn't have a turbo I'd be running traditional oil...always used Castrol in the past.
