Older car, same badge, different grille:

Yes, it's the "STi grille" for MY98-00, available as standard on Forester GTs in Australia, which is where I got mine.

Aussie-spec Forester GT is very similar to our S with notable exceptions. The GT gets the turbo 2.0 that is basically a detuned WRX engine It also gets a self-leveling suspension that we don't see here. Like our models, it doesn't get a low-range transmission, which lower Australian trim levels do (w/MT, of course, not AT). MT gets the hill-holder (made famous by *cough*Studebaker*cough*). Sunroof and cold weather package are optional (like our - I mean YOUR - S Premiums). Side airbags and ABS standard. All Aussie Foresters get 4-wheel discs. Not sure if they get rear LSD.

Thanks re the pic. I took it on Skyline Drive in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. It had rained the night before, hence it doesn't look quite so dusty. It's gotten wet in other ways, too: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewP...068&p=54226903
(pic taken before grille install).

PKduck, how did you mount those lights on your front bumper? Is there metal under that plastic cover. I'd like to mount a couple of Hella Rally 1000's, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Those PIA's look good. Do they work as good as they look?

Thanks
Chuck

Chuck, I am not very sure how they mount them on, but I know
there is a metal thingy inside the bumper, and I don't think they
drill into the metal part to mount is (coz the labor was around
$40 only.)
They work very OK to me, everytime when I turn them on,
the opposite coming cars always high-beam me......maybe they are too bright....hahaha, those suckers~
PS: How depth is the Hella Rally 1000 ? You should make sure is
it deep enough.
By the way, I will a pic to let you know how to mount them on....
Bye Bye.

I am not sure if the newer forester's bumpers have any metal parts behind it but my 98L definitly does not have ANY metal behind it, just hard plastic. I have the same light setup and the installer drilled through the hard plastic to mount the lights, there's no way around it. yeah, the 520s are bright, I only use them during the dead of night with few cars around. if other drivers are high beaming you, then maybe you should check the aim of the lights, they might be aimed too high. It took me over two weeks to fine tune the aiming of my lights.
