Default The buzzzzzzz about Kartboy exhaust hangers

I bought those things in order to stop an occasional "clank" during hard cornering (Borla/Random/Stromung/Stromung exhaust setup) . . . the trade off? the loud buzz that comes out from under my car under light acceleration.

i thought that maybe all i'd have to do was put the rubber hanger back on the midpipe . . . i had to saw the urethane hanger off (it will not budge when under even the lightest load). i'm still buzzing like mad, so tomorrow i'll start with the muffler section hanger and work my way towards the tailpipe . . . i'll try to remove them nicely, but at this point, if they don't work for me anyways, i'll enjoy hacksawing them off.

NOOOOO stop that buzz isn't the hangers it is one of your heat shields has lost a rivet or something, thats all it is, My buzzes all the time and I just need to put a screw in place of the rivet that fell out, it solves the problem I know I have done it about 3 times but just don't have the time to do this one.

isn't the heatshield there for a reason?

i didn't have the problem until i switched to urethane . . . are you telling me that the vibration worked a rivet out in less than a day?

the urethane must be transmitting the vibration, so i'm removing them and putting the rubber back on. i'd like to keep the 2 urethane muffler hangers if possible, i like how they pull the tailpipe closer to the bumper.

Yeah the heat shield helps rust out your exhaust

Mine doesn't make noise all the time only when the exhaust is in certain positions after turns and such. I'd be inclined to believe having urethane hangers only helped the buzz.. but I could be mistaken.

You might have hit something on the heatshield when you put them on. I will be removing my heat shielding off the entire exhaust this weekend.

I installed the hangers and didn't notice any additional buzz. I don't have the same setup as you though. I only have a Stromung is all. If I redline the car through the first few gears I do get a buzz at the top end from the underside but I assume it's the heatshields.

I managed to shear off a few bolts on my heat shields offroad, and I fixed the heatshield buzz with a large hammer and pliers.

Just beat that sucker until it can't rattle anymore!

Default Gotta be the heat shields,,,,,,,,,

I recently installed the Random Tech cat to my stromung setup. No buzz before, now i got BUZZ. I removed most off the heat shields when doin the cat install but ill bet its the shield between the car and the midpipe(the long one). This weekend im with ImprezedRS,im goin under with tinsnips a hammer and whatever else it takes it takes to get rid of THE BUZZ.

Mine started buzzing after I burnt my cat out. Some serous heat, even with the heat shields in place the padding under the carpet still started to smolder Id leave the shields in place.
