Default Extended warranty on WRX?

Hi

i am wondering if one should get an extended warranty on WRX?

(since it is turbo and all)

and which one (warranty) is a "good one" (i understand, there are several available)?

(i tend to put about 30 K a year)

I got the factory extended warranty on my WRX. Its a 6 year 100,000 mile jobbie. Paid like $800 for it IIRC.

Got it for a few KEY reasons:

1) Turbos are expensive
2) I replaced a lot of wheel bearings on my RS
3) I spent over $1000 on rental cars over ~2 year period when parts-supply problems and a *****TY dealer kept my MY98RS in the shop for extended periods. The increased coverage for rental cars on the extended warranty is more generous.
(basically they cover $30/day for any repair scheduled to take longer than 1/2 day, which is pretty much everything on a WRX...)

True enough, lots of modding will start voiding stuff, but on the other hand, Magnussen-Moss still applies so as long as you're not building it into a full blown race car you should still enjoy some protection. I plan to do some exhaust, etc. soon, and I'll happily forfeit any warranty on the exhaust components.

Help me out...I was under the impression that you could buy an extended warranty from Subaru any time w/in the 3/36. Is this right. I figured I would drive mine for 2 years first and see if anything happens to it that would leave me to believe that an extended warranty was necessary....

BTW, Herbie, 6/100 for $800. Thats a real good deal right? Did you have to do some hard negotiating? I think that was like $1500 where I bought mine.

yeah, it cost me $1400 for the 6/100. I'm glad I got it though. I'd much rather pay that for piece of mind. Hopefully I won't have any problems, but it IS a first year car, so we all SHOULD expect issues to arise (small or large). We shal see.
