Default transmission filter???

does anyone know where the transmission filter is located on a 97 2.5? we went to the suby ddealership and bought one for my model and we cant find the filter to replace it...lol i kno its sad

On my 93 the filter was on the front driver side, almost below the battery. Look for it there.

90-94 Legacy automatics used external, spin-on transmission filters, not in-pan filters like domestic manufacturers do. I'm guessing that the later models are similar.

On my previous automatic transmission, you had to pull the pan down and remove two tubes that went under the filter to remove it. It came on my car when it had the 1.8 and mine's an impreza, it may be different on yours.
