Default painting wheels gold

So I am planning on painting my wheels gold. I have the bronze black racing pro n-1's and want something a little different. I went to autozone as well as another autostore looking for duplicolor gold wheel paint. I found none. I did find a duplicolor gold, but it looked a little brighter than what i am looking for. What have other people used? Just looking for some suggestions. thanks for the help. post pics if you have them of gold painted wheels, and the paint you used. I am planning on this being a DIY job.

You have to be careful because of how hot the wheels will get. Making sure that you have a good heat resistent/tolerant paint will do wonders no matter what color you decide to paint it.

I'm going to be painting my LGT mesh wheels gold come spring, and I'm using Duplicolor Engine Enamel in gold. All I've done so far is the centers, but I love it. And I did find these pics from another guy that used the same thing:

well these are the painted wheels on my old integra..i had a place colormatch the paint from an STi caliper

Painting technique was mask tires, sand, prime (use self etching primer !!! I can't stress this enough), sand, clean, paint (3 coats), wet sand, paint, clear (3 coats). I used an airbrush and compressor for these ones but have also painted 3 other sets of wheels with cans using the same technique. Also try to do all 4 wheels at once to make sure you are putting equal layers of color on all of them. Good luck!

ninja edit: BTW these help up for 2 1/2 years, not driven in winter. Some minor scratches around the lugs, but thats to be expected...$40 in supplies + a nice sunny weekend= new wheels.

I would try powder coat; it is more durable. Just a thought.

I know the paint you are talking about. It is the same one I used to paint my rims gold.

Sorry, the pic is a little dark
