Not sure if this was asked previously, but is there any chance I can purchase the gaskets with this? I would like to get the manifold gaskets as well as the ones for the crossover. Please let me know what the total for everything would be.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
yeah it was asked earlier, right now we arent selling gaskets. your stock gaskets will work just fine if they arent shot. We've had a bunch of people ask about them so in the future this is something we are definitely going to look into.

remember, we are always open to ideas that you guys may have. i always want to stay at the grassroots level with innovation(cause its the most fun)

Any chance of posting pics of it installed so I can have a better idea of where I'll be installing it (I'm a green thumb but I'm learning)?

I think I'm confusing myself even more, but since the pipe diameter is increasing from 38mm to 45mm will the stock crossover gaskets be to small? I don't know if theres 7mm of metal to be shaved off the mani before hitting the gasket.

To get a good look at what you're going to be dealing with, get the car up on ramps, drop the plastic mud guard (2 bolts 4 plastic pop rivet thingys) and take a look at your exhaust manifolds. They are (if still stock) covered by tin heat sheilds. (Oh, they'll be hot as hell if you just drove for any length of time) The crossover pipe connects them (also covered with heat shielding tins.

To get at the job of switching out the pipe, you will need to remove the tins to get access to the manifold and crossover bolts. You will want to use PB blaster or something to make breaking those bolts easier. I think that loosening the drivers side manifold from the head slightly will make replacing the pipe easier, however, I've always had everything off when dealing with these parts so I could be wrong, it might not be needed.

This is definitlely a job that someone with little to no wrenching experience can handle, but doing it right is in the details. Permatex ultra copper will insure that you get a good seal, especially if you are re-using the gaskets. The trickiest part will be getting the passenger side shielding bolted back together (you don't need to remove the top half) but that is not really difficult at all.

Personally, I really think my relationship with my WRX improved when I started taking stuff off, and taking the time to replace and reassemble carefully. If you treat the car well it will treat you well.......

for install i also suggest loosening the 6 bolts(3 each side) that bolt into the head from the collector THEN tighten down the bolts from the crossover THEN tighten back down the 6 bolts that go into the head. this will ensure a probably seal on the crossover.

before you get to far...i dont know off hand because i havent test fitted yet, but does the 06 sti have the same exhaust mani as the 06 wrx or the 02-05 wrx/sti. i have yet to test fit on any 06's be it wrx/sti(going to on saturday with a wrx) but from what i have been told the 06 crossover/mani set up is different than the 02-05.

That i'm not sure of. This would def be a problem since I have an 06 sti. Anyone know or have experience on this? *Also, big up to taosracer for the explanation on the install.

you could send me one for my 06 WRX and I will test it out for ya I could put down a deposit or something...

I am interested, but I dont want to commit without knowing if it fits. I have been researching the differences between the 06 and previous manifolds, but I never looked into the crosspipe.

I noticed on your website that the exhaust manifolds are no longer offered with ceramic coating. Is there a reason for this? I'm very tempted at the price of the crossover piece, but it seems kinda strange to not have the entire manifold coated.

seeing as I build them for my man justin and how they are selling, I may have to make more and charge him more

ha ha... Justin I have 20 tack welded up and waiting for final welding and deburring inside... should be done early next week as today and tomorrow I am hell busy at my shop with CUSTOMERS cars... ha ha

Not sure when I can make more seeing as I leave to Australia in 12days for 1 mth...

to answer one fo the questions asked regarding not having a flex.... I have had mine on for over a year now... actually on and off everytime I make a batch of these pipes and I am still using ORIGINAL gaskets (60K) and havent had any leaks... well a small one, but it was easily fixed with a new bolt...

Congrats Justin and Grimmspeed for getting up and running.. man it is exciting to see how htese are taking off... lets see about making a batch for 06-07's......

Put me down as well for this and don't forget about me when you start doing offers on the exhaust manifolds as well. Preferrably coated.
