Default Today was the big day, inspection time

just got the call from the mehanic.

the good news: my oem brakes still have half their life left. my car has passed 85K and most of that has been at stage 4. i do tend to down shift a lot, but this really surprised me. I had bought new brembo's and pads expecting them to be needed, but if these still have that much life, i'll just ride them out.

the bad news: emissions failed. readiness tests did not complete. i have no CEl's, and haven't reset/flashed my ECU for a couple months/couple thousand miles.

now, i do run a streettuner base map. there was a thread not too long ago in the EM forum regarding the difference between ST and PT and only PT allowing your readiness tests to complete. this makes no sense, and was debunked, but now i'm left wondering wtf is going on.

got some new information:

reason it failed was due to rear 02 sensor and cat ineff. now, i have all those codes defeated, but i have no rear 02 sensor plugged in, and my tuner says this is the problem. I always thought the ap took care of both the CEL AND the readiness test, but my tuner says no, i need the sensor plugged in to pass OBDII. great. i will plug in the sensor this weekend and try again next week.

AFAIK the AP will only suppress codes, but won't affect the readiness monitors. You definitely need a functioning rear 02.

yes that's what i'm starting to gather... that was news to me. i just assumed the AP would also keep the readiness systems in check.

i'll be reinstalling the rear 02 sensor, hopefully soon and perhaps picking up a OBDII readiness scanner to try and get her to pass next time.
