Default HELP! Need map to get car drivable for trip to PDX.

Hey, I need a map to get a freind of mines car drivable to get to a tunning shop to finish it off.

He has a:

16G Turbo
PE 650 Injectors
Warbro Pump
TBXS FMIC
TBXS RFL BOV
Perrin Intake pipe w/TBXS Intake
Perrin Fuel Rails.
Turbo Smart Manual boost controler
Borla Header
Up-pipe
3" Turbo-Back Exhaust no cat/ 1 muffler.
Crank Pulley

His car has poor osilating idle and very hesitant throttle responce. If any of you have a map that is similar to this setup please send it to me so we can get his car out of my garage and tuned.

All you need is the off-the-shelf Stage-4 map with proper injector scaling, then just keep your foot out of it and off boost. Use a scantool or tactrix cable and verify your injector scaling via long/short term fuel trims and you’ll be fine.

I'm sure you scaled the injectors in OLF section, and put in the proper injector dead time already.

If ot here is a link for the correct injector dead time setting according to clark.

And Yes the stock stage 4 wrx map will be good. Just dont boost it.

And knowing human nature and myself. I would just lower the boost settings 100 units if you are using OLB. It will keep ur out of boost until u get to the tuner.

Its a stock stage 4 map v5.0. We had it on v5.8 but it had problems so I thiought of going back but the same thing happened so I am going to update it again. I don't know if its runing OLB (open loop boost?) but ti is using open loop fueling and I change the injector size. SO if I set the boost to 100 we can limp it down there. its a long ways, Canada to Oregon down I-5 like 5 hours of driving. I don't really want to have it tuned anywhere closer because it would be a waste of time and money.

Let me know what you thoughts are.

Make sure to set the injector dead time properly. Its in my previous post in the thread.

WHOOPS. SOrry i messed up. I meant CLB.

Lower the values by 100 from what they are currently set at. The Stg4 Map is set to run 18 psi. and thats way too much.

timing should be fine. Same as fuel.

Another thing u can do is put the utec into valet mode. This will limit timing and boost. I dunno if this is recommended but it will get u where u need to go.

But honestly PDX should send u a base map.

Do you by chance live in or near Langley??? For some reason your name rings a bell... I know a mechanic that was working on a wagon that sounds like might be yours. If you are close by there are a bunch of local guys that could get you safe to drive down... or head to squamish to RR to get dynotuned.

Just a thought.

It's a bigger-than-OEM turbo on a 2.0L, it shouldn't be too difficult to stay out of boost, especially with a poor tune. Cruise control is your friend.

^^^ yeah thats was I was thinking but I would rather not risk damaging something on the way because then we would be screwed.

I live in Bellingham (witch is like 15mi from the border), I had one place work on my car to do a tranny swap but other then that is all been me (except for Garret and Phil for tuning). I had major problems with my UTEC after I swaped to a Turbonetics GT30r so I swaped up to a Hydra.

There is a guy sending my his map so we will try that and take it out to see how it drives.

Thanx for your help guys.

are you using speed density or MAF?

MAF and VTA BOV aren't usually good.

Yeah I have herd of problems with them but I ran an RFL Ever since I had a TBXS TMIC. I never once had a problem cept for the puff of smoke between shifts at WOT. The only time I ever had a problem was when I had an HKS SSQ BOV on the car and every time it blew off coming to a stop the car would die.

Perrin makes a kit where you mount the MAP behind the turbo just before the throttle body. They say it eliminates that problem. I have a Hydra now so for me itís not a problem anymore but my buddy (the guy with the problem car) has also been running VTA and until we swapped turbos his car was fine.
