Here is a link to a thread in a local sight that I visit. A couple of guys spotted a GTR and snapped a pic. http://racingsouthwest.com/forums/showtopic39598.htm

It's still not exotic enough looking to me for an 80K dollar car. The front looks like a kitted 350Z, look at the hoodline. The rear looks like an edgier G35 coupe. Either way, I would be pissed if I spent that much for a car and people mistook it for a G35/Z.
All I have to say is that when they take off the front car bra, it better reveal something special.... like a Knight Rider red light that goes back and forth or a set of horns that plays the La Cucaracha theme song. Where am i going with this... |

I'd think about owning one if they were in the ~$40k range, but I know that will only buy about half of one. ![]() |

The STI can do a lot for the money. It's widely recognized as a "performance bargain". Of course, you sacrifice a lot. The STI is entirely based on an existing economy car. It's an Impreza interior with different seats, and a some bling bits (pedals, shift knob, etc.). That's a massive part of why it's as cheap as it is. Subaru developed the GD chassis with a good bit of rigidity in mind. Then basically all they have to do is throw in a better powertrain, suspension, and brake system on the chassis and that's 9/10ths of the car. This is easily going to be one of the best performing sports cars in the world. There's the 911 Turbo, Viper, Z06, and there's going to be this. Other than that, you have exotics. This car will rival or beat all of them (well, maybe the next Viper is getting out of hand). And it will cost around the same as a Viper or Z06. It's not overpriced, it's right where it should be. |

Among the cars you mentioned, GT-R is the only car you have to "explain" to your neighbor that thinks you're a sucker. You may not care what your neighbor thinks, but I assure you the vast majority of people that can spend $70K on a sports car do, very very much. |

when it all boils down... i dont think nissan will be able to sell a 70k+ sports car under their name, they should bump it to infiniti... to add to that, im waiting to see what the interior has to justify a 70k+ price tag... sure its fast, but is that it? to be honest, im am not at all impressed with nissan/infiniti interiors, i can give nissan a break because they arent considered luxury, but infiniti has no excuse.

That's a pretty damn nice looking car.... I'm impressed but whew, $70k is a lot of money. I would pick one up at $45k or would go with the next gen STi/EVO and save the rest.

If you guys think 70k is a rip, then the Corvette Z06 is a rip. This car is benchmarked against a 997 Porsche Turbo on the Nurburgring.
P.S. I like those 6 piston calipers. |
