I installed the remainder of my TurboXS exhaust yesterday.. shaaaweet! Downpipe, replacement cat and midpipe. Not much louder, but has an interesting 'whistle' sound to it now.. sound very cool. Turbo spool up is much sooner now and boost comes on quicker.
I had a slight fitment problem with it though. I am forwarding pictures of the issue to Mark@TurboXS. They have installed this exhaust on three cars and I'm the first to have a problem with it though. My fix was pretty easy though. I also have his new stage 2 program for the UniChip I received today.. This is a new program as of Wednesday. I haven't driven it yet to test, going to do that shortly. The new program uses the stock restrictor hose instead of the blue one provided. It should help contain boost spikes, and help me keep my EGTs down. I had been seeing peaks as high as 1700 (ow ow ow).. I'll report back later! dale

Would you let me know what the peak boost is? Also, what has changed to the program that allows the stock tubing to be used?

A bit off subject, but for the spikes , would it go away if you added the unichip boost controller to the unichip ??
How does cobb do his tuning, since he kepts the same restrictor ? And can't Marc use the same restrictor and increase boost anyway ?? thanks |

I'm not entirely sure what the programming changes were, but I like this - less psi and lower egt's = longer engine life. dale |

I don't know if this is Stage 2 or if your new program is actually similar to the "fix" from T.XS that have been talked about. I believe you new program is very similar to CA's Unichip program. Phil has told me that the CA chips have been shipping out with the newer, less boost program. Forgot what he said about the timing for the chip though.

I guess we'll have to call Mark and Phil to find out if the "fix" is in and how to get the reprogrammed/no spike chip.
Anyone find out yet? |

How does the m2 intercooler compare to the stock one? I have looked at that one for a while now as a replacement option. dale |

Phooka it's way better than stock one hoses are that samco kind
and bigger. when it was about 85 here not to long ago it was alot more resistant to heat soak , i think its from the bar and plate design. if you sit for like 15 to 20min it will warm up but it cools off fast and stays cooler longer. i might get the auto waterspray kit later next year before it hits 100+ degrees anyway and since we get the crap gas here to. i think the fmi would be good but its 500 more and those long metal intercooler pipes will get hella hot . i've already wrapped my injen intake with turbo wrap it helps alot, to keep it somewhat less prone to heatsoak. later what's your boost at redline in the lower gears? later |
