Toyota is at a crossroads; however, they are in a much better position than GM. In the 70's, GM was facing major competition from the Japanese and European auto mfg's as well as an Oil Embargo. Basically GM was (is) faltering due to its size and poor management coupled with the stranglehold of the UAW, whereas Toyota is missing a step here or there as it sprints its way to the top.
