Default Exclaim UHP...better than RE92's?

I mean, from what everyone says, there's not much that can be worse than an RE92....at 12mph spool...but I have a dinky 2.5i. I'll probably end up running these rims through to next winter, and then the next summer I will get a set of summers and use the stockers for Winter or dirt road playtime.

So I'm reading up on Exclaim UHP. It has alot of decent reviews, and some good ones on none other than the TireRack.com. These tires are a good buy? Better grip in all conditions that the RE92's?

You'll have to excuse me, I've never driven on anything other than a RE92 in a Subaru.

Aren't they a summer tire? You can't compare the two...of course the General is better in the dry/wet than the all-season RE92.

Its a very good tire for the money.

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention I'd be getting dedicated season tires, I.E; these for spring-fall, then Blizzaks for winter.

I like the resistance to hydroplaning alot, as alot of roads are used by truckers where I live, which equals grooves.

I think I'm getting them regardless after soem research.

If you going to have two sets of tires then I would go with a full summer tire. Ya might as well gain as much as you can from them. Winter, just slap on the snow tires and go.

Agreed, but my funds are limited until further notice. ~300$ for tires shipped and mounted is great IMO, especially with the reviews this particular vehicle got. I'm hoping to have more funds to spend come next summer (not the one in a few months) and then I'm getting rims and full on summer tires. Another reason is when I get the next set of rims, they are going to be 17's, and I won't be able to reuse the 16" tires for obvious reasons.

My sentments exactly!

RE92s BLOW. No matter what you put on, it will be an improvement.

For what it is worth, I really like the Fuzion ZRi tires I have on my car now. I've worn them out and it's time to buy new tires. They aren't much more in price than the Generals, but I too am considering the Generals and the Kumho SPT. The SPT rates #6 behind the #1 General in customer ratings, but the performance tests show the SPT the clear winner.

You didn't say what size (staying with stock?), but I've put about 11K miles on a set of 225/45x17 Exclaims (on 17x7.5 ASA wheels) and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. I find it to be an outstanding tire (their being cheap is a bonus). I run them as summer tires (they've been off since early December), and although TireRack markets them as a summer tire, it's actually an all season tire (and labeled as such). I'm not suggesting running them year round, but the all season bonus allows getting caught in cold weather without them turning into hockey pucks. You wouldn't be disappointed.

Not exactly. The RE92's are marginally superior to the stone tire on the Flintstones car.

I have the Fuzions on the car that i'm driving now while my car is in the shop (89 civic with 13:1 compression) and they are a pretty sweet tire...not too bad in the snow either.

It's official, nothing you say is credible if you believe that. The stone tire is certainly better.
