After Ford NA hiatus of bringing anything worth buying to the US other than trucks for 6 years, we're finally supposed to get a nice Mk3 Focus stateside as well as everywhere else.
Based on the kinetic design language the Iosis concept debuted, and recently shown with the new Mondeo at Geneva, it looks like one hell of a car. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope they don't decide to re-sheet the current chassis for the 4th time. Teaser pics: ![]() ![]()

I've never been a huge fan of the Focus, but those do look impressive. Not a fan of the RX-8 front wheel arches though. The rear of the 4-door looks like that lower-end Mercedes starter car (forget the model).

I bet the only reason they are considering this is because of Saturns recent barrage of european cars, which is great news

I will believe it when I see it. I would put a little more faith in a magazine article when it's one of the homegrown rags, simply because this is their home market.
Would be real nice and would make tons of sense - but that is why I have my doubts that FoMoCo of North America would do it. |

[Neo]Whoa.[Neo] Not bringing the 2G was a bonehead move, but not bringing it now makes sense if the 3G comes as an early 2009.

^^^ I'll believe it when I see it. If they're reviving the Taurus name on the 500, I just can't believe that they would bring over this seemingly nice car.

I'll believe it when it actually comes out looking like that, until then i will not hold my breath. Ford NA has a lot of lost time to make up.

Mulally banished Ford's design chief to Europe in order to learn a thing or two, and has gone on record a number of times showing tremendous interest in bringing the Mondeo to the US market (speculation is under the Mercury label to add brand distinction and avoid the watering down effect for Ford's usual price point in NA)
Either way, they've said as long as the Mk2 Focus was in Europe that we would never get it stateside, but that we would get the Mk3 for 2009-2010. Now let's see what it looks like. |

ford will never bring over a car, let alone design one, that will outsell their mustange. Thats the only reason i can dream up why we dont have the Euro Focus.

I likey.
However, ford's fortunately smart enough to know that americans prefer big large displacement performance, er, "performance" vehicles. I mean, look at me, i bought a WRX. Perfect example. ![]() |

Looks nice! Just bring it here Ford, instead of sticking us with the crappy versions. Oh, and bump up the launch date a couple of years - by the time you launch it, it may not look so cool.

Something about it kind-of reminds me of an Aston Martin.
I really do like the design! Keep up the good work Ford and I might be buying one...(not like I dont already have one -- Mazdaspeed 3) |
